r1
?
BOARD OF BUILDING CODE APPEALS APRIL 28,_ 1988 PAGE 2
has a perm rating of 1.0, but a 2 mill polyethlene has a rating 6 times
as great axid a 4 mill polyethlene is 12 times greater. He presented
additional information regaring the installation and t_ynes of insulation.
Mr. Mongello explained that this materiai is an accented commercial
application. Mr. Conway agreed that is is approved'by the Ohio Basic
Building Code. Mr. Burk and Mr. Kazak agree that, in renovations of
buildings 'that they have seen, there has been no sagging of this material.
Mr. Schulz questioned why the drywall was installed before the insulation
was. inspected. Mr. Mongello stated that they did not know that an insu-
lation inspection was required and presented pictures showing the instalation
of the insulation. Mr. Conway advised that the inspector did see part of
it and that the insulation inspection is a local code. Mr. Schulz is con,
cerned that the polyethlene could be damaged by the subtrades if it is
on the inside of the walls and thinks it might be better on the outside.
Mr. Powe11 stated tha.t this would cause problems and Mr. Mongello stated
that the insulation is-installed after everything else is completed.
Mr. Schulz suggested that they take off the dry wall for an inspection.
Since this is a 1oca1 code, the Ohio code does not require an insulation
inspection and the pictures do show the installation, the Board decided
that this would not be necessary. R. Burk moved to accept the Fiberglas
rriction,Fit Insulation in accordance with required inspections, seconded
by B. Schulz, and unanimously approved.
Election of officers:
Mr. Burk moved to retain the officers as elected previously, seconded by
D. Spoerke, and unanimously approved.
The Board discussed updating of the codes. Mr. Conway stated that his
inpsectors are taking notes of areas where they believe that the One
and Two Famil_y Dwelling Code is lacking and these ideas will be incor-
porated at the time the new code is adopted.
VI. ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting was adjourned at 9:35 p.m.
J. Kazak, Chairznan
B. Oring, Clerk of Commissions
