Grace moved to approve the request for a <br />variance to have a 4 foot fence around the pool in violation of Ord. 87-93, <br />for James Quinones, 25310 Gessner Road with the provision that the fence has <br />a mechanical lock on it, seconded by J. Helon, and unanimously approved. <br />Variance granted. Mr. Quinones advised that after his firewood was used up <br />he would probably extend the 6 foot fence. <br />10. Great Northern Sports Center, 25615 Lorain Road <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 4 foot front set back variance for <br />building already constructed (Please note: columns only are encroaching). <br />Violation of Ord. 87-93, Section 1139.04. <br />Chairman Remmel called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to Mr. Goold, owner, Mr. Giesser, attorney, and Mr. Schill, archi- <br />tect. Building Commissioner Conway explained that the agenda states that only <br />the columns are in violation, but there is actually a roof extended over them <br />which is also in the set back. Mr. Goold stated that they had no idea that <br />there was a violation until after the building was completed. The Board is <br />concerned since the architect did not know the codes and the plans were <br />approved in error. Tn response to A1r. Remmel's question, Mr. Conway advised <br />that the side walk was not included in the variance since it is not a struc- <br />ture. J. Helon moved to grant the 4 foot set back variance for a building <br />which is already constructed in violation of Ord. 87-93, Section 1139.04 for <br />Great Northern Sports Center, 25615 Lorain Road, seconded by B. Grace, and <br />unanimously approved. Variance grarited. <br />11. William Rawlings, 23057 Mastic Road <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 1 foot height variance for fence <br />(building permit issued for 5 foot fence). Violation of Ord. 87-93, Section <br />1135.02(h)1. <br />Chairman Remmel called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to Mr. Rawlings. Mr. Grace pointed out that the applicant knew <br />the permit was issued for a 5 foot fence when he signed for the permit. Mr. <br />Rawlings stated that there wp-re no 5foot fences available in several stores <br />that he checked, and pointed out that the fence was totally behind the garage <br />and that this lot is surrounded by another lot that he owns. C. Remmel moved <br />to grant the request for a 1 foot height variance for the fence for William <br />Rawlings, 23057 Mastic Road, seconded by J. Helon. Roll call on motion: <br />Remmel, Helon, Bugala, Gomersall, and Grace, no. Motion failed to pass. <br />Variance denied. <br />12. Gordon and Pat Charboneau, 24801 Maple Ridge Road <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 13.4 foot variance for distance <br />between addition and garage. Violation of Ord. 87-93, Section 1135.02(c)-1 <br />Chairman Remmel called all inrerested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to Mrs. Charboneau who explained that they were going to put a <br />side door in the garage which would make it easier to get into the garage. <br />She advised that they would be fireproofing the garage walls. R. Gomersall <br />moved to grant the request for the 13.4 foot variance for distance between <br />addition and garage, violation of Ord. 87-93, Section 1135.02(c)-1 with the <br />condition that the garage walls adjacent to the addition be fireproofed for <br />Gordon and Pat Charboneau, 24801 Maple Ridge Road, seconded by C. Remmel, and <br />unanimously approved. Variance granted.
