BOARD OF BUILDING CODE APPEALS OCTOBER 26, 1989 PAGE 2
V. OLD BUSINESS:
Mr. Kazak does not believe that the E.P. A. ban would hold up in court if
anyone contested-it.
VI. NEW BUSINESS:
Mr. Schulz stated that the city should be looking at r.adon testing for new
construction, since this is to be regulated by the E.P.A. in the near future.
Building Commissioner Conway stated that he and Mr. Schulz have talked about
this, and he has sent for information from the E.P.A., He has not heard
anything as yet about guidelines or deadlines. He needs information as to
how to test a building site, since usually the radon is detected after the
structure is btiilt. Mr. Schulz stated that there are preventative measures
which the builder can install during construction. AZr. Conway stated that
this would be inexpensive to do while a building is being constructed.
The members agreed that since the next scheduled meeting is on Thanksgiving,
the board will meet on November 30, 1989, if there is any business.
VII. ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting was adjourned at 8:58 pmm.
J. Kazak, Vice Chairman B. Oring, Clerk of Commissions
