Dr. Khouri stated that the amount of signage allowed will be.a part <br />of the tenant`s lease agreement and alI signage must be approved by the <br />owners. Mr. Restifo stated..Ghat he has no problem with allowing the developer <br />to distribute signage as he sees fit, however, if a tenant comes in with a <br />longer name and wants more, this is the developers problem. T. Restifo . <br />moved to grant the variance for Lauren Hills Shopping Center at 24.106 Lorain <br />Road, the request fo.r a variance to distribute the signage among the tenants <br />in contrast as to what.is required under Section 1163.06 as stated in the <br />attached document and as finally approved by the Builcling.Co?nmissioner, <br />seconded by B. Request 86.14 square foot varianee, 3'foot. <br />variance for encroachment into setback; variance to use flashing sign (time <br />and temperature) and variance for more than ane pole sign on property in <br />order to use existing computerized sign. Violations of Ord. 87-93, Sections <br />1163.06-(d); 1163.09-(c); 1163.06-(f)2; and 1163.06--(b)4. <br />Chairman Bugala cal.led all. interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to Mrs. Pierson, a neiglibor, and Mrs. Jaikins-Madden, the owner. <br />Mr. Bugala pointed out that:this.is a relatively small.piace of property with <br />two poles signs and they are requesting to use the. second one inc.luding the <br />time and temperature portion. Mrs. Jaikins-Madden explained that the sign is <br />hooked up and she had purchased from the bank who had previously owned it. <br />Mr. Bugala stated that.this non-conforming sign should have been removed aC <br />the time the bank went out of business according to.the ordinance. The members <br />have obections to the request. A4rs. Pierson stated that this sign was the <br />better of the two s.igns and believes that a new business needs this exposure.. <br />Mr. Grace suggested that they could reduce their signage on the building which <br />would at least reduce the variance. Law Director Gareau questioned why this <br />sign was not ordered removed when the bank went out of business. T1r. Conway <br />stated that it was not in use wnen he came to the city. B. Grace moved to <br />grant the request'for Anchor Dive Center, 28669 Lorain Road, for a 86.14 <br />square foot variance, a 3 foot variance for encroachment into setback; variance <br />to use flashing sign (time and temperature); and variance for more than one <br />pole sign on the property in order to use existing computerized sign, seconded <br />by J. Helon. Roll call on motion: Grace, Gomersall, and Bugala, no. P1r. Helon <br />and Mr. Restifo, yes. Motion failed to pass. Variance denied. Building <br />Commissioner Conway stated that he would order the ownier of the property to <br />remove the sign. Law Director Gareau suggested that perhaps the owner would <br />remove the other sign and put a11 the business names on this sign. <br />8. I'rancis E.
