since they will be working with the codes daily. Mr. Conway stated that Mr.
Hi11 had indicated that he expected North Olmsted to_ reyiew them. He also
agrees that there should be some review. After some discussion, it was
agreed that the codes should be, studied.-at length, compared to the
committee's suggestions, as well as compared to the old codes and discussed.
Since this would probably take more than the 30 days allowed for.approval,
Mr. Dubelko advised that _an extension of?.time should.be.requested from..the
Council, and he was not sure that the ordinance could continue through its
various readings and public hearing while the Commission was reviewing it.
Since the first 11 chapters are basically ground rules it was decided to
cover all of them at the next meeting; and continue with the remainder two
or three at a time. The clerk will send a letter to President of Council
Boehmer requesting an extension of time beyond the 30 days, but probably no
more than 90 in which to complete their review and make recomnendations. The
members will read through Section 1133 and present their comnents at the
next meeting. This discussion will be limited to a half hour and at that
time the Commission will set up a an agenda for a special.mee.ting.. The
Building Department has about 6 items for. the next agenda, and so far
Engineering has nothi.ng. Chairman Thomas stated that the agenda should be
closed and it was suggested that for the future meetings the, agenda inight be
limited. Mr. Skoulis, in the audience, stated that the public was not aware
that this was being studied and he believes that some discussion should be
open to the public; and he does not think the public.hearing held..by council
allowed enough time. He was advised that the Planning Conunission meetings
would be open to the public, but the audience would not be invited to
comnent, but they should talk to their Councilman.
VI. COMMNIffTTEE REPORTS :
No items.
VII. NEW BUSINESS:
No items.
VIII. OLD BUSINESS:
Discussion of the Mixed Use District: Mr. Mize,..formerly of Biskind
Development Company, had made recommendations for developing a portion of
land on the west end of Lorain Road studying it from the developers point of
view. Mr. Orlowski and Mr: Bowen are. gathex.ing information pertaining to
prices of land, and the possibility of developing the prop.erty for senior
housing. Mr. Bowen has talked with Zaremba. Developinent Company who. is
interested in developing areas in the city for senior housing, multi-family
or cluster developments. Mr. Orlowski does not believe that they have met
with Mr. Bowen as yet. Mr. McDermott stated that a representative from
Zaremba was in the Engineering Department making some preliminary, studies.
Mr. Thomas stated that since there is a developer who is interested, the
city should then consider some changes in use. He will contact Mayor Boyle
again regarding his response to the information that has been sent to him.
Mr. Orlowski advised that from his conversa.tions with an architect, there
would be little interest in developing cluster housing for seniors, since
most senior complexes offer amenities, such as nursing care, meals,
transportation, etc. They do have some sales figures on condominiums which
3
