CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF REVIE[J <br />MINUTES-FEBRUARY 21, 1990 <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairwoman Case called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br />Present: M. Case, T. Gallagher; and B. Zergott <br />Absent: X. Sohn <br />Also Present: Building Commissioner Conway and Clerk of Commissions Oring <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />P1. Case moved to approve the minutes of January 17, 1990 as presented, <br />seconded by T. Gallagher, and unanimously approved. <br />III. SIGNS: <br />Heard with building plans. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />No items. <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />1) Cherandon Plaza, Phase IV, south side of Brookpark Road Extension <br />Proposal to construct building <br />Referred from Planning Commission February 13, 1990. <br />Mr. D. DiBenedetto presented a color rendering of the proposed phase Iti, <br />and photographs of the surrounding buildings. He explained that the <br />designs of this building will duplicate Sparky Plaza across the street; <br />however, he will use the exact same materials.of the adjacent Cherandon <br />Plaza III building which is located at the corner, immediately adjacent <br />to this building. The structure will be constructed of 8 inch split <br />face artic white block, with a mahog y stain trim and sign facia; <br />shingles will be Prestique I Elk - Hickory; and there will be a rubber <br />roof with stones. The pole sign will be mahogany stained lap joined <br />cedar with maroon letters on an ivory background identifying the plaza <br />and signs panels for each tenant. Building Commissioner Conway recom- <br />mended that he move the sign further south in the buffer area in order <br />to assure better visibilitv. Mahogany.sign panels on the building will <br />have.white neon letters. In reference to the landscape plan, Mr..Zergott <br />suggested that he replace the burning bush and the taxus capitata with <br />a lower type shrub, perhaps taxus browneye because there is a possibility <br />that the higher shrubs.could obscure the lower signs. I?umpsters will not <br />tie enclosed, but will not be visible from either street after the proposed <br />medical building is constructed. The lighting will be mercury vapor with <br />the same fixtures as are on the other buildings. B. Zergott moved to <br />accept Cherandon Plaza as presented with the notation that the sugges- <br />tions on the landscaping are not mandatory; that the ground sign is to <br />be favored to the south side of the buffer; and it is not necessary to
