BOARD OF BUILDING CODE APPEALS MARCH 22, 1990 PAGE 2
1.
that this was an honest mistake, but that it should have been caught
before the final inspection. The members agreed that if the chimney was
brought up to code, this issue would not have to be returned to the
Board. Mr. Sanlser clarified that the heating contractor would be respon-
sible for changing the location of height of the chimney, but the general
contractor was responsible for enclosing it. J. Kazak moved that the
Chand Construction Company bring the chimney on the house at 6120
Pebblebrook Lane up to code, and if it cannot be brought up to code,
this violation will have to come back to the Board, seconded by D.
Spoerke, and unanimously approved.
V, , OI.D BUSINESS:
The members would like to know the disposition of the Beaune issue by
Council, it is possible that some action was taken on March 20th, but
those minutes are not available.
VI. NEW BUSINESS:
Mr. Schulz is gathering information on both Radon and C,F.C.'s (Chloro-
flouro Carbons) both of which will have to be addressed by the City in the
future. Mre Sanker advised that Honeywell will be giving courses on
Radon and he would like them to give some seminars under the auspices of
the State for the inspectors certification. Mr. Schulz stated that he
has learned that it costs between $50.00 to $100.00 to have a thorough
Radon test; and in most cases it comes from the sump pump which can be
covered and vented. Mr. Kazak stated that if this would be done during
construction the cost would be negligible. Mr. Sanker stated that even
when installing a sump pump in an existing structure, the contractor
should be required to cover the pump. Mr. Burk would like a Honeywell
contractor to talk to the Board at some time in the future.
VII. ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
( t SGGG%a?
Ro Burk, Chairman
IjO -9-
B. Oring, Clerk of Commissions
?
