Grace moved to accept the minutes of June 6, 1990, as submitted, seconded by
R. Great Northern Shopping Center, Plaza North
Request for variance (1123.12). Request variance to reduce parking stall depth
to 18 feet for renovation to parking area. Violation of Ordo 87-93, Section
1161.04(b).
Chairman Bugala called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was
administered to Mr. Papandreas, Biskind Development Company, who presented plans
and explained that the Planning Commission had approved the proposal and had
referred it to this Board for the variance. The parking stalls will still be 9
feet wide, but will have an interlock dimension (from center line to center
line) of 60 feet instead of 64. Mr. Papandreas noted that these dimensions are
in accordance with the recommendations that are being proposed for the new
parking ordinance. He advised that the entire parking lot will be repaved and
renovated. Mr. Bugala does not believe that there is enough room to enter the
shopping center from Lorain Road. Mr. Papandreas responded that the curve has
been straightened out and several of the problem areas have been eliminated. He
advised that he has presented the plans with the one way exit drive beside Chi
Chi's eliminated; however tnat'is still being studied since it does eliminate
some of the exiting traffic. B. Grace moved to grant the requested variance to
reduce parking stall depth to 18 feet for Great Northern Shopping Center,
seconded by J. Helon, and unanimously approved.
Great Northern Mall. Request for variance (1123.12). Request variance to install 75 degree angle
parking with 9 foot wide by 18 foot deep stalls for renovation to parking area.
Violation of Ord. 87-93, Section 1161.04(b).
This request has been withdrawn by the developer.
3.
