? .
difficult to have the logo changeda Mr< Vannelli will ask the awners if they
could replace the orange on the sign with the terra-cotta color that is to be
on the roof. The forester had presented a report and a plan which required
that more trees be planted. Mr. Conway was not sure that Mr. Wendell had seen
the plan with the mound and the evergreens. Mr. Morgan questioned if the
forester should make recommendations on the landscaping since the
Architectural Board did that, and pointed out that he thought that the
forester only made recoirunendations for the existing trees. Mr. Bowen and Mr.
Morgan agreed that in the future the forester's report should be sent directly
to the Architectural Board. The Police Department report mentioned some
concern-about stacking ca.rs on Lorain Road. Members agreed that there might be
a problem and discussed moving the speaker or putting in two speakers, but
this might put it closer the the residents. Mr. Vannelli pointed out that
there are 100 stores and this is most efficient configuration, and some of the
stores ha,ve a shorter distance to the speaker. He clarified that these stores
had a liinited menu so little time was spent at the speaker. Mr. Skoulis again
brought up the sign, he would like both the logo and the color changed if
possible. Mr. Gorris suggested that this proposal be referred to B.Z.D.
Committee wi.th the recommendation that this not be reviewed by them without
the traffic study that was promised and with the statement that the developer
will consider the Commissions's request to tone down the sign and will advised
that committee of the owner's decision. Mr. Conway requested that the
developer give him a copy of the landscape plan so that it can be sent to Mr.
Zergott for approval. T. Morgan moved that the Hot 'n Now Hamburger proposal
for the property at 28401 Lorain Road, the proposal to construct a drive
through restaurant, be approved by the Planning Commission including those
comments carried in the Architectural Board of Review minutes and so
demonstrated by the developer this evening, the conformance of those plans,
that the color change as presented be incorporated in those plans, from the
orange to the terra-cotta and the different dryvit; and that the traffic study
which was not shown this evening to the Planning Commission be given to the
Building Zoning and Development Committee for their review prior to approval
for information; and that the color of the sign be consistent with the
building, and not orange; and that a review.be made by the developer of the
logo, particularly the hamburger, that it be modified in someway to be more
aesthetically more pleasing to other signage along Lorain Road, seconded by R.
Bowen, and imanimously approved.
2) Galati's Auto Service, 27539 Lorain Road. '
Revision to previously approved plans for renovation to building.
Originally approved by Planning Commission May 27, 1986e
Heard by Architectural Board of Review May 22, 1991.
Mr. Mongello, architect, and Mr. Galati, owner, explained that the
Architectural Board ha,d required that of the four honey locust shown on the
rear, two be eliminated and the others be put in each corner of the front
landscape beds, and that some of the shrubs be changed to bt,rn; ng bush and
blue chip juniper. Building Commissioner Conway is still checking into the
abandoned C.E.I. pole that was mentioned at the last meeting. Mr. Galati
stated that the entire area would be re-paved and that he lmew that his
existing pole sign will have to be eliminated eventually under the new codes.
He clarified that the cars tha.t must be held on the property for a long time
would be stored in the enclosure. Members discussed closing down one of the
drives, but both drives are existi.ng and Mr. Galati claimed that both were
necessary since many cars are brought in by tow trucks.
