Clancy, representing the North Olmsted Board of Education, explained <br />that when the school burned, part of the structure had to be demolished and it <br />was decided to re-configure this area. Mr. Lesko, architect, presented a model <br />of the proposed construction and pictures of the school after the fire. <br />Originally the school did not ha,ve a defined main entrance. This area will be <br />built on the existing foundation and will now include a comrmunity room in the <br />front of the building, thus keeping most evening functions in the front. <br />The entrance atritnn will be energy efficient tinted glass, the old canopy which <br />had been a maintenance problem, will be removed. Mr. Clancy pointed out that no <br />changes will be made to the driveways or traffic patterns and there will be no <br />new impact on the neighborhood. It was clarified that there will be one main <br />entrance in between the area where the two original entrances had been located <br />but there would be additional exits to meet the code. He stated that all but <br />approximately $70,000.00 will be covered by the insurance company who will pay to <br />restore the building but will not pay for new code enhance.ments. The members had <br />no problems with the proposal. Mr. Clancy stated that he would like to publicly <br />thank Building Commissioner Conway and his department for the all of the effort <br />that they had put forth after the fire, stating that without their extra effort <br />the rebuilding would not have been completed as rapidly. Mr. Wells, an adjacent <br />neighbor, questioned if any parking spaces would be removed and if there would <br />be any added traffic congestiono He was advised that no pa.rking spaces would be <br />removed and no traffic patterns would be changedo Mrs. Mailer, a neighbor, is <br />concerned that there might be plans to use Northern Avenue, which is beside her <br />house but has never been used as a street, to transport construction equipment <br />or as a drive into the school property. Mr. Clancy assured her there were no <br />plans to use the Northern Avenue drive. Mrs. Yencha, a resident of Sandpiper <br />Lane, questioned if the $70,000.00 to do this work was available, or if it <br />would have to come from the residents. Mr. Clancy.advised that this money would <br />come from their permanent improvement fund. M. Hughes moved to approve the <br />re-construction of the entrance and administration of the North Olmsted High <br />School building. Mr. Gorris suggested that this should be sent to the <br />Architectural Review Board, but it would not have to come back to the <br />Commission and could go directly to the B.Z.D. Mrs. Hughes agreed. Motion was <br />seconded by R. Bowen, and unanimously approved. <br />VI. COMM[7NICATIONS : <br />Ord. 91-109o Mr. Gorris stated that this ordinance will remove the term <br />limitation of the Chairperson of the Architectural Review Board. Mr. Orlowski <br />stated that he had talked with Mr. Dubelko about amending this orcli.nance. He <br />would like an amendment to address compensation for the Planning Commission <br />7
