r , .
Chairman Gomersall called a11 interested parties before the Board. The oath was
administered to Mr. Davis, sign contractor. Mr. Gomersall stated this is a
repeat of what is on the main sign now. Mr. Davis explained that this portion
on the sign will be blacked out so that all the signs would be consistent
throughout Ohio. Building Commissioner Conway explained the blacked out area
would still be considered as sign area. Mr. Davis presented a picture of the
existing sign. He explained that the Money Station, Green Machine, and Cirrus
will all be contributing to the sign if they are on it. Mr. Gomersall explained
that the City is trying to cut back on the signs, and the members agreed that
this is unnecessary. B. Grace moved to grant the request for a 12e6 square foot
variance to add insert to pole sign, seconded by T. Restifo. Roll call on
motion: Grace and Maloney, yes. Restifo and Gomersall, no. Motion failed to
pass. Variance denied. In response to his question, Mr. Davis was advised that
one member was absent.
4. Stvlin' Concepts, 29919 Lorain Road.
Request for variance (1123.12). Request 6 foot variance (at closest point)
into front setback. Violation of Ord. 87-93, Section 1139.04(a). Request
temporary variance to use gravel area.for Enployee parking. Violation of Ord.
87-93, Section 1161.10(a). Also request special permit to add to non-
conforming building. Special permission required Ord. 87-93, Section 1165.02.
Approved by Planning Commission June 25, 1991.
Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was
administered to Mr. Case, the owner, who explained that he only needed the
variance for the gravel for 12 to 18 months at which time he will pave it. He
stated that this would be for employee parking only, there would be no in and
out traffic in that area. He presented the plans for the renovation and two
additions to the existing building which is non-conforming. It was decided to
grant the variance for 1 year and then if the paving is not completed, he would
have to come back to request another variance. Building Comnissioner Conway
explained that the front set back variance was for the overhang an the canopy.
J. Maloney moved to grant a variance to Stylin' Concepts, 29919 Lorain Road,
for a 6 foot variance (at closest point) into front set back, to also grant a
temporary variance to use gravel area for employee parking for a 12 month
period; and also to grant the special permit to add to a non-conforming
building, seconded by B. Grace, and unanimously approved. Variances and
special permit granted.
5. David M. Strieter, 4260 Marquette Blvd.
Request for variance (1123.12). Building Comnissioner Conway advised
that this permit was issued tmder the old code which required that the pool
equipment had to be 10 feet away from a property line.
