The oath was <br />administered to Mr. Urban. Mr. Gomersall stated the request was to have a 2 foot <br />height variance for a fence on one side of the property next to the swimming <br />pool. Members had no problems with the request. T. Restifo moved to grant the the <br />request of Roger Urban at 24695 Maple Ridge, for a 2 foot height variance for a <br />fence an one side of the property with swinuning pool (other 3 sides will have a 6 <br />foot fence), seconded by J. Maloney, and unani.mously approved. Variance granted. <br />10. Ben K. Wright, 5195 Porter Road. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 5 foot variance for distance from rear <br />property line to construct detached garage. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section <br />1135.02. <br />Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to Mr. Wright, owner, who explained that there is an incinerator on <br />the property to the rear. The two car garage will hide that and will also have <br />room for storage. In response to Mr. Gomersall's question, Building Commissioner <br />stated that this would not be a fire ha.zard. He further advised Mr. Grace that a <br />fire wall would not be required since the incinerator is bricked in and the fire <br />rating is to protect a dwelling from a garage fireo J. Maloney moved to grant to <br />Ben K. Wright, 5195 Porter Road, the request for a 5 foot variance for distance <br />from rear property line to construct detached garage, seconded by B. Grace, and <br />unanimously approved. <br />11. Hobby's Etc!, 23345 Lorain.Ave. <br />Request for variance (1123.12).. <br />conforming ground sign to advertise <br />Section 1163.12(b). <br />Request variance to use existing non- <br />a business. Violation of Ord. 90-125, <br />Chairman Gomersall called a11 interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to Bill and Louis Costello, owners, who explained that the business <br />was located between Chuck E. Cheese and Goodwill, and the sign was needed because <br />of the setback of the shopping center from Lorain Road and the gas station on the <br />corner blocks visibility. Customers ha.ve told them that they would not have lmow <br />that they were there except for a temporary sign and a"Welcome" sign on the gas <br />station. This is the old Goodwill sign which they are buying. The request had <br />been amended to include a variance for total signa.ge, location, and use of a <br />pylon sign when there were multiple tenants in a building. It was clarified that <br />this sign will be one which will be eliminated in January of 1998. R. Gomersall <br />moved to grant the request for variances for 1) a 24 square foot over total sign <br />area allowed (Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1163.12-c); 2) a 4 foot 6 inch <br />set back variance for a pylon sign, (Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section <br />1163.12-b); and 3) a variance for a multiple use pylon sign, individual store <br />signage not permitted (Violation of Ord. 90=125, Section 1163.12-h) and also with <br />the condition that a letter of permission for usage will be submitted, to <br />advertise a business for Hobby's Etc., 23345 Lorain Road, and with the <br />understanding that the variance will be expired on January 1, 1998, seconded by <br />T.
