house. N1r. Gallagher stated that the house would be about 15 feet high so there
would be 7 feet showirg over the fence. Building Coru, issioner Conway stated that
the Board had originally required that the house be painted to raatch the
restaurant. 14r. Gallagher had concerns about the appearance since the gable
would show over the fence. Mr. Patterson pointed out that another Board is
requiring that a fence be installed down the other property line, and he
believed that it would look better to have a fence on the other side of the
restaurant to balance it. P,fr. Conway advised that the fence was required to
protect the adjacent property. Mr. Ingrassia clarified that the fence would come
down the center line of the lot and would turn at the parking lot across the
front of the house. It was elarified that this house is used for an office, but
Mr. Patterson stated it could aliqays be used as a residence in the future. If
they can install the fence, they do not want to paint the house. Mr. Gallagher
thought maybe some shrubs in front of the fence might soften it and he is also
concerned that the fence might give a dungeon effect especially inside the
building. Mr. Patterson maintained that the two Boards are giving conflicting
advice which is not logical. They offered to put evergreens along the other line
and the neighbor and the Board wanted a fence. Mr. Conway does not believe the
Boards are in conflict and pointed out that the A.R.B. looked at the proposal
w-i.th a fence down one line. Mr. Ingrassia suggested painting the fence to match
the building, and he also advised that Mr. Szarka, the awner, did not believe
that this would darken his office, since the windows are 4 or 5 feet from grade.
He pointed out that they use the back door for an entrance. He does not believe
there is enough room for shrnbs and if some were planted, they might hinder cars
turning around. Mr. Patterson believed that having a house right behind the
restaurant, made the restaurant look like a mom and pop operation and he offered
to present plans, but Mr. Ga,llagher did not believe that was necessary. Mr.
Zergott suggested that they present a prospective drawing of how this would
look. Since installing the fence would not hold up the opening., it was decided
to table this until the next meeting in order for the members to take another
look at the property. The r?embers ivould like A7r. Sohn to look at this as well.
V. NEW BUSINESS:
No items.
VI. ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting was adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
B. rgott, Chai B.
2
