<br />presented colored renderings of the signs on the various elevations. Mr. Beitz <br />pointed out that the signs were 400 feet off Brookpark road and 800 feet off <br />Lorain Road, and are small in proportion to the builcling. Mr. Gomersall advised <br />that it should be understood that if these variances are granted, it would not <br />effect granting any variances for the south plaza. Mrv D'Ascenzo clarified that <br />these were under separate ownerships at present. The members agreed the ma.ll has <br />:been greatly improved and ha.ve no problem with the.signs. R. Gomersall moved to <br />grant the vaxiance to Great Northern Mall (Edward J. DeBartolo Corp.), 4954 <br />Great Northern Mall to have 5 additiona.l wall signs and logos; a 35 sq. ft. <br />variance for sign area over the 75 foot maximun for "Great Northern" signs; a 10 <br />square foot variance for sign area over the 75 foot maximtmi for the "Treat" <br />sign; and a 1 foot height variance for 3 wall signs over max;m„m 4 foot height, <br />seconded by J. Ma.loney, and imanimously approved. <br />13. Robert and Laura Foraker; 4323 5ilverdale Road. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 11 foot, 6 inch side yard variance and <br />a 7 foot front setback variance to add to dwelling on a corner lot. Violations <br />of Ord. 90-125, Section 1135.06(a). Also request special permit to add to a <br />non-conforming dwelling. Special permission required by Ord. 90=125, Section <br />1163.02(b). Also_request 11 foot side yard variance to construct a detached <br />garage on a corner lot and a 50 square foot variance for garage area. Violations <br />of Ord. 90-125, Section 1135.06(b) and 1135.02(c)2. <br />Chairman Gomersall called a11 interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to Mr. and Mrs. Foraker who explained that they were trying to <br />improve the property. The members had been on the site and agreed this was a <br />difficult.lot to work with and had no problems with the proposals. B. Grace <br />moved to grant the requests for an 11 foot, 6 inch side yard variance; a 7 foot <br />front setback variance to add-to dwelling on a corner lot; a special permit to <br />add to a non-conforming dwelling; an 11 foot side yard variance to construct a <br />detached garage on a corner lot and a 50 squaxe foot variance for garage area, <br />for Robert and La.ura Foraker, 4323 3ilverdale Road, seconded by R. Gomersall, <br />and unanimously approved. Variances granted. <br />Baskin Robbins, 26400 Lorain Road. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request variance to have second wall sign; <br />request 91.7 square foot variance for sign area for a business unit; request <br />variance 106.7 squaxe foot variance.for sign area for frontage of_building and <br />request 1 foot variance for encroachment of wall sign into min;rrnnn of 3.0 foot <br />setback from parting wall and also from end of building. Violations of Ord. 90- <br />125, Sections 1163.12(a); 1163.11(c) and (a); and 1163.04(a). <br />Continued from meeting of July 2, 1992. <br />No representative was present. Law Director Gareau advised that since the <br />building is empty and they have apparently moved, the request should be <br />dismissed for failure to appear. R. Gomersall moved to dismiss the request for <br />variance submitted by Baskin Robbins, 26400 Lorain Road for failure to appear, <br />seconded by B.
