a third on the side of the building and a walk up A.T.M. at the front entrance.
They are proposing to add landscape islands throughout the parking area with a
larger landseaping island to define the A.T.M. drive and will ad.d greenery
throughout the site with some landscaping around the building. The building will
have a flat roof with a parapEt. He presented a material board showing the Belden
St. Simon Blerxi face brick with a Norval NV-15 mortar which will be used on the
building; a Belden Dutch Gray brick will be used as an accent and will also be on
the cornice. The clear windows will be framed with Kawneer Champagne Permanodic
aluminum frames. The drive thru canopy will have a similar treatment but reversed
with lighter brick accented by the darker brick. The s"tandard entrance archway is
a free standing element painted with Pratt and Lambert Y435W, Gray Mist (lighter
than the brick). He clarified that the arches are made of a prefabricated glass
fibre reinforced concrete material. A Devoe Derby Tan paint matching the face
brick will be used on the painted areas. The light poles will match those in the
center. Ground mounted metal halide lights will wash the archway and the
Brookpark elevation, with seeuri.ty lighting around the A.T.M.'s. The signs will
be internally lit. Mr. Sohn suggested curbing off the parking areas from the ring
road and leaving only one drive defined by the larger island. Mr. Papandreas
preferred not to have dead end drives in the parking lot. Mre Smith stated that
most of the islands now are painted, but wili be more easily seen with curbs and
landscaping. Mr. Papandreas explained that they prefer the cross traffic, but at
the request of the Planning Gommission a traffi:c study of the area is being done
by Traff-Pro and this will be addressed at the next Planning Commission meeting.
He noted that this traffic pattern was designed by Barton-Ashman who considered
possibility of expansion. The Planriing Commission had asked for some additional
landscaping and Mr. Smith explained that there had been 10 existing trees and
they are adding 6 along with the other planting on the site. As far as the
request for plants to block headlights fran the A.T.M. drive, there is a 4 foot
grade difference between the site and Brookpark Road which should shield any car
lights. Mr. Zergott would like some more evergreen material on the south side of
the building, and he does not believe that the plant spacing works with the
windows. The red twig dogwoods arsd yellow twig dogwoods will scorch in the full
sun an the southern exposure. He suggested that the developers present a revised
landscape plan for his review prior to installing the landscaping, and did not
think it would be necessary to hold up the proposal for the landscaping. Mr.
Gallagher mentioned the traffic problems that could occur leaving the A.T.M.
drive, but he was advised this would be addressed by the traffic consultant. The
parking lot light poles are the same as those in the center, they ma.y be lower,
but they will not exceed the height of the existing poles. Mrs. McBride, sign
contractor, presented the signs. Three wall signs will be individual red neon
letters munted on a raceway which will be painted to match the brick, and will
be installed on the front and two side elevations. The "Society" on the front
will be 21 i.nches high by 6 feet long; "Bank" will be 10 inches high; the side
wall signs will be 28 or 29 inches high. The A.T.M. signs on the front and under
the canopy will be identified by,the MAC signs with a mall MAC identification on
the back of the drive thru canopy. The 2 by 2 foot directional signs will be 4
feet high and mounted on black 2 by 2 inch posts. Mr. Papandreas did not believe
these signs would conflict with the shopping center signs. Mr. Zergott advised
that they mi.ght need a variance for the signage, but neither he nor Mr. Sohn had
a problem with the concepts. Mr. Sohn advised that the entrance and exit signs
should not ha.ve a glossy background, the background should be flat. The
directional signs will not match the.colors of the shopping center signs, but Mr.
Papandreas stated that. this is a.imique situations since Society has a ground.
