<br />Mr. Orlowski preferred that it not be included. Mr. Tallon stated that it should <br />be left as a half mile, but indicated that he might send letter with that <br />suggestion later. Mr. Skoulis suggested including Mr. Burns statements that it <br />might be defined that a 3,000 square foot convenient store on a 10 acre site <br />might be considered a superstore. Mr. Dubelko stated that the size of the lot was <br />included to prevent someone from starting out with a small store and adding on to <br />it tmtil it became a superstore so the ordinance is trying to cover both the size <br />of the building and the size of the lot. Mr. Gorris believed that Mr. Burns cotil.d <br />address section (b) with council directly and the Commission has addressed 1(b)4 <br />already. <br />V. COMMUNICATIONS: (Heard at this point.) <br />Letters regarding minor changes from Building Commissioner Conway. <br />Kahn's Cuisine has i.nstalled 2 lions in front of the entrance. The members had <br />no problems with these and did not consider them a sign, and is basically a <br />Chinese arehitectural feature. <br />Shell Oil at Great Northern and Lorain Road is requesting new signage both on <br />the building and on the canopy and as a part of the sign program, and are <br />requesting a spandrel between two pumps. The members believed that the spandrel <br />was mainly sign area. The Building Department is figuring the sign area now, but <br />they are down sizing some of the new signs on the canopy and adding signs on the <br />spandrel. Chairman Gorris would like the Architectural Review Board to look at <br />this and also advised that he does not want any ba.ck lighting on it. Mr. Orlowski <br />stated that if they are reducing the other signs, this might be all right. If the <br />Architectural Board has any strong objections to the proposal, Mr. Gorris would <br />like the proposal returned to Planning Commission. <br />The parking lot next to the Ice Cr.eam Parlor is <br />pressure soditnn flood light on a pole at the <br />Whitethorn Avenue.
