Building Commissioner Conway clarified that the
fence would start where the parking begins and would go back two parking spaces
froan where their fence begins and this fence will go 20 feet beyond their fence.
Mr. Plunket stated that the existing pole light was corrected so it did not shine
on their property, but another light was added that shines into theix back yard.
The Building Department will look into that. After some discussion, it was agreed
that both the fence and guardrail would be required for entire 120 feet. R.
Gomersall moved to grant the request by Coroso's Restaurant for an amendment to
our original decision regarding the 6 foot fence and guardrail with the request
that the 6 foot fence and guardrail be limited to a distance of 120 feet which
would start at the first parking space on the north east corner of the property
and extend 2 parking spaces past the existing fence on the adjoining property,
seconded by B. Grace, and unanimously approved. Mr. Gareau advised Mrs. Gladwin
that any appeal would be through the Common Pleas Court. In reference to Mrs.
Gladwin's complaints about the condition of the strip between the properties, she
was advised to talk to the new operators of the restaurant first, and if the
rubbish and debris remained, she could coniplain to the Building Department. If
there were problems with the tree she should notify the forester.
10. Cross Roads Olds, Inc., 27871 Lorain Road was deferred to next month.
Election of officers :
J. Maloney moved to nominate Mr. Robert Gomersall as chairman for the year 1993,
seconded by Mr. Purper. No other nominations were made. Roll call on motion:
Maloney, Purper, Grace, Koberna, and Gomersall, yes. Mr. Gomersall is chairman.
R. Gomersall moved to nominate Mr. John Maloney as vice chairman, seconded by W.
Purper. No other nominations were made. Roll call on motion: Gomersall, Purper,
Grace, and Koberna, yes. Mr. Maloney abstained. Mr. Ma,loney is vice chairman.
Building Commissioner Conway discussed the non-conforming signs and pole signs
and believed that the board shoulci formulate a policy about these signs before
January 1, 1998 since variances will be requested for all of them at the same
time. Mr. Gareau did not understand that all non-conforminv signs were included.
He believed that the council was try:ing to eliminate pole signs. It was decided
that variances could be granted to extend beyond 1998 if they are reasonable
requests. It was also agreed that in some areas pole signs would be preferable to
ground signs because of visibility problems. It was also suggested that perhaps
the code should be changed to allow changeable copy signs since the board just
approved two this evening. The members will discuss the sign issue in more detail
later.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:50 p.m.
10
