OLD BUSINESS:
Ord. 94-95
Regarding including efficiency apartments into the senior housing code, Bu.ild.ing Commissioner
Conway advised that only two commu.nities responded to his request for information. Lakewood
does allow efficiencies and the minimu.m size is 220 square feet, and Strongsville allows them with
a 390 square foot miuiinum. The members believed that 220 square feet is much too small, but
400 square feet did not seem to be unreasonable. Mr. Orlowski advised that the Willowood in
Fairview was385 square feet and the Knickerbocker's (Bay Village) were 343 and 323 square
feet. Mr. Conway suggested that they pass this on to Cou.ncil with the recommendation that they
look into including them if they believe that they should be in the code. He clarified that an
efficiency is one room, usually with a fold out bed. It was decided to wait until the ne}rt meeting
when hopefully more members will be present.
X.
