?
10% darker than the Darlington to provide a more effective contrast. The board preferred to see the
elevations prior to making any suggestions. There was an elevation plan in the file and Mr. Newberry
noted there are soine slight differences in terms of the indentations. The brick will be in the stippled
portion of the building. Mr. Liggett liked the lighter color brick as it provided more distinct accents
along the columns. Mr. Yager noted the port cochere is a darker color and a darker color along the
tower would look better. The elevation predates the floor plan. Mr. Yager noted Mr. Zergott did not
recommend azaleas on commercial sites, would like to know the quantity of plants for area and sizes,
did not believe crabs and spruce would have.enough room against the building, inore variety of sluubs
against the building, will vision be blocked at entrances and exits, no sign location inclicated or
landscaping along the sign, and recommended using a local landscape architect. Mr. Yager believed the
recommendation for using a landscape architect was for climate reasons, as the design was completed
by a landscape architect in Atlanta. Mr. Newberry agreed to review the above suggestions and viay
have the landscape desiguer contact Mr. Zergott: He noted the sign package will be presented at a
future date. Mr. Yager gave Mr. Newbury the list of Mr. Zergott's comments. Mrs. Krieger wondered
if there was any site lighting plans submitted. As Mrs Krieger and Mr. Gallagher reviewed the
photometrics, Mr. Yager suggested removing a few parking spaces to allow for an island. Mr.
Newberry stated there is 136 rooms and the parking is needed. He noted that the parking area is
nothing in comparison to Wal-Mart. Mr. Yager believed architecturally speaking the building is
effective, as it is a little more than a background, build.ing; yet not a foreground building. He wondered
if there is enough room to get into the port cochere. Mr. Newberry believed it was a little tight and may
consider enlarging it slightly. Mr. Yager believed that this would be more effective. The lighting was
acceptable to Mrs. Krieger and Mr. Gallagher. Mr. Newbury will look into the possibility of darkening
the brick color slightly. Mr. Yager requested a copy of the rendering for the file.
Mr. Gallagher moved to approve the plan with the following recommendations: evaluate whether or
not brick should be used along the homestead sign; evaluate the color of the brick to provide a better
accent; the planting prints should be reviewed by Mr. Zergott; the sign is to be reviewed at a later date
along with the plantings around it; and the lights should be 25 feet or less metalhalide and restricted to
the property length. The motion was seconded by S. Krieger and unauimously approved. 1Vlotion
carried. In the framing of the motion, Mr. Yager clarified the sign would only be reviewed if it is non-
conforming and would not hold up the project.
VI.
