He explained that they had a tower in North Ridgeville to cairy the signal west. They <br />cannot have a lugher pole at the auport aud tlley cannot build towers too lugh or they would interfere <br />vvith other siguals. N1rs. Tuttle asked how they were conimunicating between North Ridgeville and the <br />airport without the tower in North Ohnsted. He explaived liow the phones work and clarified that his <br />phone would not work here. Mrs. Tuttle questioned why people with pacemalcers have been told that <br />they caunot use a portable phone and wondered why they were being told uow that it was not a <br />hazard. She questioned what another speaker quoted tliat this would bother young cluldren. Mr. <br />Lendex referred back to the document that was presented earlier and stated that it depended on the <br />type of phone and the frequency. He further advised that the tower would Ue built to the city standards <br />for safety. Mrs. Tuttle stated that she did not want to be susceptible to these dangers, and she believed <br />that everyone in the neigliborhood should have a copy everytliivg that is being presented to the board. <br />She was advised that the inforusation was on file in the Clerk of Couvnissions office. <br />Duriug the framing of the motion, 1V1r. Tallon asked if the developer had looked into camouflage for <br />the pole. He suggested tliat it could be camouflaged to loolc like a tree trwik to the height of the <br />existiug trees. He did not want it painted, he wanted it to loolc like a tree and there are companies that <br />do that. Ms. Del Valle also clarified that they are here only for the locatiou, they will return with the <br />building and other informatioii. It was clarified that tlus proposal should come back to the comnaission <br />with the landscaping and structure before being referred to the arclutectural review board. After <br />discussion with tlie Assistant Law Duector it was decided iiot to refer tlus to the bzd until after the <br />entire proposal is approved. R. Tallou moved to approve Neartel West Corporation, 26000 Lorain Road, proposal to construct 150 <br />foot lugh monopole comnluuications facility on North Ohnsted Recreation Center property, with the <br />condition that the pole be 150 foot .maximum with uotliiiig aUove it except the lightning rod, it will be <br />centered on the recreation ceuter property so that it will be equi-distaut fi-oin the east and west <br />borders, and the 438 foot rear distance will be increased if it cau be aud will be located near the <br />approximate site of the old Cablevision autenua; the site will landscaped entu'ely so the site is not <br />visible from auy residential areas; the laudscapiug inust be approved by the city forester and the <br />architectural review board and no trees are to be removed from the property without permission from <br />the city forester; the pole itself will be camouflaged aud reviewed by the arclutectural review board, <br />and there will be no exterior lighting on the building. lt is to be clarified that this is only to approve the <br />location, and the rest of tlie proposal will be presented later. Tallon moved to table the Nextel West Corporation, 26000 Lorain Road, proposal to construct 150 <br />foot lugh monopole commuuications facility on North Ohnsted Recreation Center property until the <br />next meeting.
