Law Director Gareau stated that
this issue is not new and sometimes when a builder has a piece of property, he needs 10 feet more that
he cannot get. They could bu.ild Parma type houses as it is. Mr. Purper believed there were too many
$270,000.00 homes being bu.ilt. Mr. Kobema stated that when Whitlatch wanted to build $130,000.00
homes, there were people who wanted to buy them. People will buy any size homes in this community.
Mrs. Latina stated that the base price of her homes are $179,000.00 and the resale price of the homes
in the area are $139,000.00 to $149,000.00. Mr. Gomersall noted that the other members of the board
were not in favor of splitting the variance. The members discussed which lots backed up to existing
homes. Lots 38, 39, 48, and 33 would not impact on the existiaig neighbors only on their own
development. Mr. Maloney suggested a compromise of a 5 foot variance in the rear. The members
agreed. Mr. Gareau noted that no notice was given to the residents abutting sublots 6, 7, and 8 which
were added tlus evening, so no variance could granted to those lots, and they will have to come back
for the others. They can only address the lots that were listed in the write up.
J. It was clarified for Mrs. Latina that there was a 5 foot variance in the rear, but the front must remain
the same. Mrs. Latina wondered if there was a reason why they did not give them a 5 foot variance in
the front. Mr. Miller explained that the 5 foot in the front and 5 in the back would not have passed.
Election of officers:
J. Maloney moved to nominate R Gomersall as Chairman for the, year 1998.
