He also
believes that there would not be room for adequate parking for additional
employees. At this point, Mrs. Harms, a resident, was sworn in. She too
complained about the truck traffic blocking roads and questioned why these
trucks can use a road which is posted "no trucks". Trucks can make a de-
livery on this road. Councilman Wilamosky urged the Board to reject the
variance in order to preserve the integrity of the residential and industiial
areas. He believes that the owner is attempting to over-use this property.
C. Remmel moved to grant these two variances requested, one 70' and one 30'..
as requested, seconded by E. Graves. Puhalsky and D. Napp,
both of Tokyo Shapiro. Mr. Bugala stated that the present ordinance was
to reduce the number of pole signs and this variance would be totally de-
feating the intent of the ordinance. Mr. Puhalsky stated that he had a
hardship since a competetor in the same shopping center has a pole sign.
Councilmen D. McKay and R. Wilamosky were sworn in at this time. Mr.
Schuerger advised that Tokyo Shapiro had just moved to this location from
another store in North Olmsted and they were unaware that they could not have
a pole sign. Mr. Wilamosky advised that there is legislation being studied
that would be even more restrictive regarding polesigns and urged the Board
to uphold this ordinance as written. E. Graves moved to grant the variance
to Tokyo Shapiro, 4670 Great Northern Blvd., to erect a pole sign on pro-
perty where other pole signs are located and also to grant a request for
a 100 sq. ft. variance for total sign area, seconded by R. Gomersall. Roll
call on motion: Graves, Gomersall, Bugala, Helon, and Remmel, Nay. Motion
failed to pass. Variance denied.
1. The oath
was administered to Mr. Swindell who explained that one house next door was
set back even further and he chose a set back which was between the two ad-
jacent houses. The rear yard will be conforming. Mr. Remmel stated that
there is only one house in that area of the s-t.reet with a set back over the
maximum and he prefers not to create another non-conforming situation.
