? <br />MINUTES OF LANDMARKS COMMISSION <br />S'?ELI?-?-_) MEETING OF MAY 3l , 1985 <br />, <br />? <br />PRESENT: Chairman Betty Lord, Bob Perry, Sharon Fleming, Lois.Von Auken, <br />Julia Browrr,, Gloria Sell and Mike Patton <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Betty Lord at 4:35 p.m. and <br />guest Leslie Trew was present. <br />The purpose of the meeting was to obtain a progress report on the work of <br />Leslie Trew, the intern working on the grant. <br />Leslie Trew stated she had: <br />11 properties completed except for deed work. <br />15 properties are surveyed requiring deed work and copies of tax <br />duplicates. <br />23 properties have all the information from the Courity Administration <br />Building Archive work and deed work needs to be done. <br />30 properties have some work done on them. <br />79 total properties worked on out of a possible 254 properties. <br />QUESTZONS: <br />The question was raised as to whether at the May 16, 1985 meeting we <br />agreed to concentrate on Pre-1900_homes. The answer was yes to this <br />question, however, out of the above mentioned 79 properties it was <br />unknown how many were Pre-1900 homes. <br />Q: How far back do tax maps go? <br />A: 1850 <br />Q: How.does she trace properties-?:and increasing tax value? <br />A: Using the tax records she checks whether any surrounding property <br />taxes increased similarly. If there was a 50% or more junip in the tax <br />value and no similar increase for surrouriding properties, then it was <br />assumed a structure was built on the prop?'rty. <br />Q: Do you know when there were tax increases? <br />A: No, and there is no such record in the archives. <br />Q: How many properties are completed ? <br />A: None. <br />Q: How many propertie.s are completely researched? <br />A: Approximately S, however no deed work is done. <br />Q: How long to examine the tax duplicates--on average? <br />A: Approximately 1.5 hours per property. However', structures prior to 1900 <br />take longer and there are discrepancies. <br />Q: Out of the 79 properties, 53 still need to have tax duplicates examined.
