BUILDING DEPARTMENT REQUESTS:
1) The Eyeworks, 26127 Lorain Rd.
Proposal for exterior alteration
(Heard by the Architectural Board of Review April 17, 1985).
Mr. Page of Erie Construction explained that the business is not doing
well because the building looks as if it is not occupied; there is no
front entrance and windows have been obscured with a film.. He explained
that present windows (across the front of the building) will be bricked
up and a new front entrance with three adjacent windows will be installed.
Mr. Morgan pointed out that Planning Commission had originally approved
the proposal to brick up windows but no front entrance had been planned;
Council had consequently approvedthe proposal with the condition that
windows remain since this would be a solid brick wall facing Lorain Road.
It would seem that the front entrance now planned would remove that
objection. Two parking spaces must be removed but parking still con-
forms to code. The Architectural Board had approved as submitted. Chair-
man Burns questioned why this was forwarded directly to the Architectural -
Board of Review without first going to Planning Commission. Building
Commissioner Gundy explained that proposal was submitted too late for
Planning Commission meeting, and since it was only a minor exterior al-
teration he sent it to the Architectural Board first. J. Wixted moved
to approve the proposal for the exterior alteration to the Eyeworks
facility at 26127 Lorain Road, seconded by E. Traczyk, and unanimously
approved.
2) Zack Hoty - Victory Plaza, approximately 24363 Lorain Rd.
Proposal to construct strip shopping center.
. Architect G.
