In 1984 there were 7 regular meetings, 1 apecial meeting, and.numerous <br />comnittee meetings; members also attended aeveral City Council and <br />Council Cormnittee meetings._ <br />Major Activities: <br />Historic _Buildin Reco nition Pro ram_- Upon-=receipt-.of appropriate <br />documents,-: 1 requests have been appr.oved.from homeowners for plaques <br />recognizing:their older homes. The plaques-have been ordered. The <br />total -of plaqued homes -in the city--is now_15. .Gommissi.on member_Gloria <br />Sell has assisted these.homeowners in their_.research and docum.entation. <br />Towm Hall Rehabilitation Program - Rehabil-itati.on-is proceeding accord- <br />' ing to the -long=range plan outlined--7t.y= architect.-=Robert __Gae.de,- and ap- <br />proved'by the Commission, City Council:,-=-and-the--City-Administration. <br />Through the use of Community Development- -Block - Grant _funds, a ramp f or <br />the_use of handicapped persons has been comgleted, .as well.as emergency <br />chimney repair. Correction of foundat-ion:_drainage-.problems, and in- <br />stallation of a new roof will come next. <br />Grant Proposals-- In Ju:ly, a Commission committee- prepared- an application <br />to the - Ohio _Historic Preservation- Office, °larider.= the Certified Local Gov- <br />ernment Grants=zn-Aid. P_rogram,-for-,a federal=matching grant for historic <br />preservation. The grant was approved_in Septembe.r, in the amount of <br />$6600: $330.0 in feder?al grant money; -and $3300 in matching ci:ty funds and <br />volunteer hours by.Commission members. The money will be used to hire a <br />student intern -( architectur_e.-student_) in surrmer- -1985, to research and <br />prepare a list. of a11-pre-1920 historical-_-buildings._in No.rth Olmsted. <br />Future federal- funding may depend-a.pon- such-basic -information.. - <br />The Commission prepared a pr-oposal--f-or a portion of the _city and county <br />Comznunity Development Slock Grant funds-, for._Town Hall repair; this money <br />is now being used as noted- above.
