a Q
' 8. Many projects are underwaya perhaps the most
. significant being the restoration of this
building. We are striving to do this project
with monies from outside the community wherever
possible. The preparation of grant applications
and funding requests requires many hours. Monies
are available for preservation, restoration, re-
habilitation and reconstructiono We plan to take
advantage of these sources.
Please re-consider your vote. We are not a frivolity. We
also are not a life threatening necessity. We could present the
same rationale about other boards and commissions; however, that
is not our purpose. We are merely asking to pay someone a small
stipend to do a service for the city that can benefit the entire
city. We need a secretary: It is entirely possible that no one
on the Commission will have the skills to perform this service.
In light of the present budget I find it difficult to believe
that it is impossible to find $300. We have a small budget from
which we expected to pay our secretary. This item has been included
since 1981. All other Commissions and Boards have paid secretaries.
We request equal treatment.
- 3 =
