MINUTES OF LANDMARKS COMMISSION <br />MEETING OF OCTOBER 18, 1984 <br />Present: Chairman MaYlvllena Orzechowski, Betty Lord, Robert Parry, Yvonne <br />Petrigac, Julie Brown and Gloria Sell (9 p.m.) <br />cneeting was called to order at 8:15 p.m. by Chairman Marlene Orzechowski. <br />Her opening remark was the recent death of commission member Patrick J. <br />Pattona He will be sorely missed. <br />She also announced the following: <br />1. Complimentary remarks of participation in the homecoming parade. <br />Several members rode in a 1920 touring car owned and driven by <br />Mr. George Normand of Berkshire Drive who had been contacted by <br />, Lois Van Auken. Letter of appreciation will be sent. <br />2. Correspondence from Cleveland Resbration Society regarding <br />luncheon Oct. 12; FacadeBulletin9 IVew Standards for Rehabilitation; <br />Preservation Briefs; The Old House Journal; Preservation News <br />3. Received call froin Mrs. Flament which she referred to Mr. Parry <br />and the Olmsted Historical Society. <br />4. Mr. and Mrs. Flagner of Porter Rd. are having contractural difficulties. <br />5. Gloria Sell has advised her eleven applications for participation in <br />our H.B.R.P. are in her possession and she will bring them to meeting <br />this evening. <br />6. Received word grant application was accepted and that much work will <br />be involved. The mayor advised the commission can go ahead and hire <br />a secretary. Several suggestions were made. <br />7. Two slide presentations were recently made - one by Robert Hunter <br />to the Pine Ridge Women's Group and Betty Lord to a scout troop. <br />8. Regarding Town Hall, -Ch airman Orzechowski informed members the <br />chimney had been fixed; roof is in bad condition, ryiayor informed <br />her he was closing Town Hall for use by the public. Several groups <br />were inconvenienced by this sudden and unexpected decision. Water- <br />proofing was not done at this time on the sDuth side of the building. <br />The ramp will be put in and then the roof repaired. Much discussion <br />followed on the Town Hall issue. <br />Betty Lord also announced that at the workshop held in July which was spon- <br />sored by Regional Planning, she spoke to John Cimperman and he expressed an <br />interest in serving on the Landmarks Commission. <br />H.B.R.P. - Gloria Sell presented the 11 applications she had received. Also <br />included was a comprehensive report subrdtted by Mr. and Mrs. Fleming on the <br />Research Procedure they followed. <br />Discussion followed regarding'the H.B.R.P. plaques, possible use of <br />certificates, and a possibility of a group as Friends of.the Landmarks, <br />Betty Lord and Gloria Sell will schedule a meeting as soon as possible <br />to go over the 11 applications submitted this evening. <br />Motion was made by Betty Lord, seconded by Gloria Sell that we immediately <br />order 12 H.B.R.P. plaques from our 1984 budget (balance of $1200.). Motion <br />unanimously approved. <br />BUDGET - Proposed budget for 1985 was reviewed. Motion was made by Yvonne <br />Petrigac, seconded by Betty Lord, that a proposed budget of $2325.00 be <br />submitted for 1985 and unanimously approved. <br />'Aeeting adjourned at 11:15 p.m. <br />Marlene J. rzec o ski, Chairman <br />Julia K.
