CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF REVIEW
SPECIAL MEETING
MINUTES - FEBRUARY 27, 1984
I. ROLL CALL:
Chairwoman case called the meeting to order at 4:15 p.m.
Present: M. Case, J. Cavaluchi, S. Ebin, and R. Mongello
Also Present: Recording Secretary B. Oring
II. REVTEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES:
The minutes of February 22, 1984 were not available; will be reviewed at the
next regular meeting.
III. SIGNS:
No Items
IV. OLD BUSINESS:
Mongello and Assoc. Office Building, north of the northeast corner of the
Lorain/Clague intersection,
Revised plans for exterior of office building originally approved Oct. 19,
1983. Revisions were heard at the meeting of February 22, 1984 and are
being re-presented,
Mr. Leo of Mongello and Associates explained that they had definitely decided
on the peake'd gables (two plans were presented at the last meeting). Plans
were re-reviewed and explained to Mrs. Case who was not present at that
meeting: over hang on back has been added, roof is flat at one section,
mechanical units will be on patio, materials will be face brick, cedar
siding, and stone faced plywood, Mr. Ebin stated that he believes that
building lacks unity (too many types arcfiitecture, similar to victorian,
romanesque, and cape-cod). He believes that samples of material should have
been presented. Mr. Leo explained that the face brick and cedar were in
original plans and that the cedar would be carried out throughout the ex-
terior. Mr. Cavaluchi and Mrs. Case prefer the new plan. Mrs. Case be-
lieves that this is a matter of personal taste, as long as the building is
.fundamentally sound, Mr. Cavaluchi stated that the building is irregularly
shaped and the design is fundamentally aa.nsistant_through out, and that
using brick facing and cedar siding is not unusual. J. Cavaluchi moved to
accept the plan as resubmitted, seconded by M. Case. Roll ca11 on motion:
J. Cavaluchi and M. Case, Aye. Mr. Ebin, Nay. Mr. Mongello abstained.
V. NEW BUSINFSS:
No Items
VI. ADJOURNMENT;
The meeting was adjourned at 4:35 p.m.
M. Case, Chairwoman B. Oring, Recording Secretary
