. .
?
ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF REVIEW JUNE 20, 1984 PAGE 2
are now proposed to be asphalt shingles and they possibly might be
changed to copper, and with the understanding that the developers will
add screening surrounding the western and south eastern mechanical
units on the roof and that the Board would like to see screening be-
fore it is constructed and with the understanding that the building is
basically all white with a little bit of black trim, seconded by M.
Case, and unanimously approved. It was clarified to the developer
that the proposal could go on to Planning Commission and that he could
present the screening to the Architectural Board at a later date.
Approved color renderings were submitted for 2 building signs and
1 pole sign. Mr. Ebin commented that the sign on south was projected
above the building and that this normally is discouraged; however, he
believes that this particular treatment is a good one, and looks as
if it is part of the building and is compatible with the design of the
wall. Letters are red plexiglass on a white background, logo has
white letters on a red background (prints stated that logo was a black
background, but Mr. Webber is sure it was supposed to be red as shown
on the coloz rendering). Board has no problem with either red or black
background for logo. S. Ebin moved to approve the building signs as
submitted, provided they conform to the area requirements, seconded
by M. Case, and unanimously approved. Pole sign is a white background
with red plexiglass letters. Pole and frame of sign will be duronotic
bronze. S. Ebin moved to approve the pole sign as submitted with
understanding that the pole itself and the trim is dark bronze, and
that the background of sign is white plastic and the letters the
"Eye Works" are red plastic and that the logo is white letters with
either red or black background and with the understanding that elec-
tricity come from underground, seconded by M. Case, and unanimously
approved. The Board suggested that a break resistant plastic be used.
b) Laurel's Restaurant (John Rozukalns, Architect), 23642 Lorain Rd.
Proposal to construct additions.
Qwner Mr. D. Sevastakis presented plans for two small additions to the
rear of the present building. Materials will be brick veneer with wood
trim and aluminium shake shingles and will match the existing. No
additional parking is required since additions are for office and ves-
tibule space. Mr. Ebin would like existing roof exhauster in front of
building screened with either"a woad_or metal screening. Mr. Sevastakis
agreed. S. Ebin moved to accept plans as submitted for additions and
with the recommendation that the roof exhauster on the south roof above
the entrance which faces Lorain Road be screened with either metal or
wood and painted to match the wood trim on the building, seconded by M.
Case, and unanimously,approved.
VI.
