1 <br />...'-4 <br />PLANNING COMMISSION APRIL 26, 1983 PAGE 2 <br />(a) Springvale Country Club and North Olmsted Golf Course <br />(heard at this time). <br />Mr. Scheeff and Mr. Yesberger presented the site plan <br />showing the location of the sign. He advised the Commis- <br />sion that some slight change might be made due to a gas line <br />on the property for which there is no exact location shown. <br />The sign is located about 35' off the center line of the <br />street. Mr. Scheef is to notify the Safety Department prior <br />to placing the sign. J. Roberts moved to approve the sign <br />as submitted and recommended by the Architectural Review <br />Board for Springvale Country Club and North Olmsted Country <br />Club, seconded by J. Brown, and unanimously approvede <br />(c) Dr. R. R. Reese, 29473 Lorain Rd. (J. K. Larsen, Architect) <br />Ground sign with building plans. <br />Approved by ARB April 20, 1983. <br />Heard with building plans. <br />(d) Firestone, 5100 Great Northern Blvd. (Bob Cutler Signs). <br />6 Wall signs replacing J. C. Penny Auto Center Signs. <br />Mr. Hixson of Cutler Signs stated that the smaller "Firestone" <br />signs would replace the existing "J.C. Penny's Auto Center" <br />signs on four sides of the building. New signs, "America's <br />Aome for Car Service", are to be placed over the bay doors on <br />two sides of the building; this signage is to designate their <br />expanded services. The Commission believes that their ad- <br />vertising has explained that. Exterior signs in Mall area <br />have been a concern of the Commission, and they believe that <br />this could start a trend. J. Brown moved to approve the <br />mounting of the Firestone signs as recommended by the Archi- <br />tectural Board of Review and with their conditions, and also <br />rejecting the signs stating "America's Home for Car Service", <br />_ seconded by J. Wixted, and unanimously approved. <br />(2) Dr. R. R. Reese, 29473 Lorain Rd. (J. Larsen, Architect) <br />Proposal to alter dwelling for dentist office <br />Approved by Architectural Board of Review April 20, 1983. <br />Architect J. Larsen explained the plans for including a ves- <br />tibule and steps. A revised parking plan was submitted as <br />requested; only 2 spaces are to be added, no other resurfac- <br />ing is to be done. Plans were studied in conjunction with <br />Architectural Board Minutes. The west side of the garage <br />is in disrepair and some other exterior work on the house <br />is needed. The sign will.be exterior plywood with painted <br />graphics. The encroachment of the apron;, into the neighbors <br />property is not considered a violation. B. Gorris moved to <br />accept the Dr. Reese building-.plans and sign as presented, <br />including the suggestions of the ARB, and with the suggestion <br />that the existing garage be improved, seconded by J. Roberts, <br />and unanimously approved. .
