r, <br /> <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />MINUTES - NOVEMBER 9, 1982 <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Gorris called the meeting to order at 8:04 p.m. <br />Present: J. Burns, T. Morgan, R.'Perla, J. Roberts, J. Brown, <br />and B. Gorris <br />Also Present: Assistant Law Director J. Dubelko, Building Com- <br />missioner E. Gundy, Assistant City Engineer D. <br />McDermott, and Recording Secretary B. Oring <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES: <br />J. Burns moved to approve the minutes of October 26, 1982 as submitted, <br />seconded by T. Morgan, and unanimously approved. <br />III. BUILDING DEPAR'i'MENT REQUESTS: <br />(a) Rotary Club <br />Sign placement (9 locations) <br />Building Commissioner Gundy explained that the Rotary signs <br />would be on public right-of-way in nine locations: 1) North <br />end - Columbia Rd. 2) South end - Columbia Rd. 3) I-480 exit <br />Clague Rd. 4) I-480 exit Great Northern Blvd. 5) East end - <br />Lorain Rd. 6) West end Lorain Rd. (on big sign board) 7) East <br />end Brookpark (on big sign board) 8) North end - Dover Center <br />Rd. 9. I-480 Exit - Stearns Rd. Positioning of signs has not <br />been determined, and Mr. Gundy stated that itwould be expected <br />' that the Police and Safety Departments would have to approve <br />each particular location.. Mr. Cavaluchi and Mr. Mohnickey of <br />the Rotary Club.explained that the 3 part sign consisted of <br />the Rotary emblem plus 2 placards identifying the city and <br />meeting information. The Commission objected to putting such <br />signs in the residential areas on Clague, Dover Center and <br />Stearns Roads. Them members also agreed that signs for such <br />organizations would be better in a cluster sign which would <br />include all such organizations. Mrs. Brown stated that the <br />Community Council had previously installed_three cluster signs <br />at the east- and west end of Lorain? Road and one on_Brookpark:- <br />The sign on the east end of Lorain Road has been removed. T. <br />Morgan moved that the request of the North Olmsted Rotary Club <br />for the installation of nine permanent signs located on public <br />property at nine separate locations not be approvede Planning <br />Commission recognizes the need for organizations of this type
