BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS JAIlUARY 9, 1930 PAGE 2
that this request is to build a storage garage in a limited industry
area. Mr. Gent explained that he wanted to store equipment which is
to be used for the maintenance of the porperty, not for storage of
industrial equipment. After some ds.scussion it was decided that
this use is not in. the spirit of the Ordinance. D. Ledvina moved
to deny the request, seconded by L. Elorvath, and unanimously
approved. Request denied.
L/3. Jerry Hammerschmidt, (Lorain Stearns Shopping Center), 28971 Lorain
Rd. Request for variance (1133e 13). Request permission to use
leased vacant land for parking purposes only. Violation of Ord.
62-33, Section 1213.01 (E).
Chairman Ledvina called all intereste-d parties before the Board.
The oath was administered. It was explained that in order to con-
struct a proposed addition, it will be necessary_to install an
additional parking aream Mr. Hammerschmidt advised that he is .
planning to lease adjacent land for this purpose, since Clark Oil
will not sell the property. Unfortumately, the lease as -it stands
now is only for 2 years. The Board felt that a 2 year lease was
entirely inadequate for a parking area and adVised Mr. Hammerschmidt
that a much longer lease would be ner-essary. Mr. Hammerschmidt
withdrew his request, in order to came before the Board at a later
5Itime with a lease for a longer peri.?l of time.
4. E1 Charro Restaurant, 30111 Lorain P-d. _
.
Reques t for variance (1133.13). Request permission to use temporary
mobile sign. Violation of Ord. 62-33, Section 1225.02. Chairman Ledvina: called a11= interesto--d parties_ before the Board.
The oath was administered. The request is for a 4 x 8 tempoiary,
portable si.gn for 60 aays to advise I:hat this relatively new
restaurant was open for limches and dinners. IRr. Remmel pointed out
that other business establishments im the neighborhood have 2
signs, and since this restaurant is fLn a strip center, its sign
is not easily visable from the highway and that this is a good
looking portable, temporary: sign. TEiis is the first of the portable,
temporary signs to come before the Smard, since the ruling which
declared them illegal ;by Ordinance, so there was some discussion
as to what guidelines should be used for their approval or disEi'J-
proval. C. Remmel moved to grant the variance for a temporary,
portable sign, based on a 30 day teim?orary basis, the sign shall
not be a flashing sign, and should have a neutral backgroimd,
seconded by L. Horvath, and umanimovsly approved. Request granted.
?
J5. Big "0" Oldsmobile, 27500 Lorain Rd. '
Reques t for variance (1133.13). Regues t permission to ins tall
second pole sign. Violation of Ord. 62-33, Section 1225.02 (B-3).
