MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED - FEBRUARY 28, 1961 <br />The meeting was called to order at 8:2,5 P.M., by Vice-Chairman, Ballard W. <br />Vincent. <br />The minutes of the meeting of February 14th, were approved as read. <br />Present were: Ballard W. Vincent, Richard Mongello, Anthony T. LaPonza, <br />and Donald Ford. <br />Absent: Joseph P. Kadylak, Ralph P. Kelley, and Leslie B. Macs. <br />Also present at this meeting were Clarence J. Oviatt, Solicitor; Alex Kanareff, <br />City Engineer, and Henry Caster, Councilman, Ward IYI. <br />PACKER CORPORATION - CENTRAL OUTDOOR ADVERTISING <br />Mr. Jack Shay, representing the Packer Corporation, again presented a proposal <br />for a double-faced sign on Brookpark Road which would back up the existing <br />Union Savings & Loan sign, and consist of two smaller signs, equivalent in <br />size (combined) to the existing sign. One sign would be for the purpose of <br />advertising for Fisher Brothers, and the other for advertising a food or <br />beverage store. The minutes of December 13th concerning this sign were read <br />by Secretary Mongello. Inasmuch as this sign is not located on Great Northern <br />? Shopping Center property; the Building Commissioner is to make the determination <br />and advise Mr. Shay of the decision. <br />COLUMBIA ESTATES SUBDIVISION <br />The Columbia Estates subdivision plans were submitted for approval. It was <br />moved by Mr. LaPonza, seconded by Mr. Ford, that this subdivision be approved, <br />contingent upon the inclusion of a T-type turn-around and a lot located <br />between sublot No. 7 and 9 on the Northerly side of the street be deeded to <br />the City for street purposes, if the adjoining land can be acquired u*ithin <br />two years, "Yeas" Mongello, Vincent, LaPonza, Ford, <br />"GO-KART" TRACK <br />Mr. Lalor, of Lalor Realty, presented a plan for a proposed "GO-KART" track <br />adjacent to, and West of the Stop and Swat Driving Range, to cover approximately <br />13 acres, The track would be blacktopped9 20 feet wide, and a speed limit <br />not to exceed 20 M.P.H. to be established. It was moved by Mr. Mongello <br />seconded by Mr. LaPonza, this matter be given further consideration. "Yeas" <br />Mongello, Vincent, LaPonza, Ford, <br />REZONING - LORAIN ROAD <br /> Discussion ensued relative to the rezoning of Lorain Road. Several residents <br /> of the area wer e present, and inquired whether or not the Planning Commission <br /> had considered another area for light industry to take the place of the <br /> Brookpark Road area. Mr. LaPonza recommended a Committee be formed to meet <br /> with Mr. Wiese on Saturday, at 10:00 A.M., to study the ar ea further and <br /> get opinions of other residents in that area. <br />Mrs. Deemers and Mrs. Buckland also pointed out that the signs advertising
