Giles said theatre would have too small a marquee to do ar?y advertising <br />• on, and it could not be seen :£rom Lorain Rda and ]3rookpark., inasmuch as the <br />distance is 750 ft. Sign wouZd not be garish' would not obstruct motorists' <br />vision,, have no flashing lights or animation., being i.nternally libhted with <br />fluorescent lightso Tt would be set back 40 ft., from southern edge of L•ora3.n, <br />350 ft, ti;rest of the junction of Lorai.n and i3rookpark' 130 ft. east of the <br />entrame to the shopping center. Sign to be 12 ite o.if growld.. <br />Mr. I,ance of Arbyps was present. After examing plans and exact location of <br />the proposed sign, had no objec-tion to rnake, <br />Mr. UJest felt sign sizes in code shoul.d be adhered to because if you allow <br />someone to put in a bigger sign, there is no end as to where it i•rill end up. <br />Hotiiever., he felt that in this instance the sign is different from a commercial <br />sign and he would temper his reconmendations,..that the sign should be bigger <br />than normal but he questioned the 300 sq. ft, <br />1,4r. A'1a.ngani said no specifications had been included in Zoning Ordinances for <br />a theatre sign, or signs for other places of public gatherings. 14r. Greene <br />asked the secretary to send a letter to Council, suggesting Code:amen.dment. <br />Mr, Biskind stat,ed that he and Mro Sol Shur fe3t this sign was important for <br />the -theatre9 that other tenants in the shopping center had no objection. <br />Nir. Scheeff moved that the variance ior the theatre sign be granted. Secon.d <br />by Mro. Eian. Vote was unanimousa <br />7. Appellant: r,D. tidilliam B. Pate., 29568 Steuaart Dr., North Olmsted <br />Refm Request for variances on four lots, al1 on Somerset Drive. These <br />lots approximata 114' in depths Variance requests are as follows; <br />S/L 20, 32' rear yard setback on half of the rear yard;, 31Q661 rear <br />yard setback on S/L 21s 331 rear yard setback on S/L 22; 31,661 rear <br />yard setback on s/y 23, Request is in violation of Sectioiz 1163,01 <br />which requires 50t rear yard setbacks. <br />It was pointed out that for purpose of clarification9 actual variances should <br />have been s tated, thus : 18' ., 18.341, 171 and. 18.341. <br />Yir. Bislcind, as otmer of the lots, represented 12r. Pate. He stated in layirg <br />out the subdi-,,ri.sion he was able to purchase all lands with the exception of <br />a strip approximately 40, x 70t on the rear of these four lots. He felt the <br />on7.y property oUmers who t;rill be affected are the three from zihom it wasn't <br />possible to buy the 40 fta Their houses wi11 be about 350 ft. away from the <br />lot line' their houses fron-ting on Stearns licl. The on.7y other people who woulcl <br />be affected will be the buyers of these shorter lo-ts and they wi11 be told <br />speci.fically the size of their lots before they buy, <br />lIr, Herbert F'ields was present. Somerset <br />and wOUld like ta see homes there instead of ununproved lotsa <br />Mayor Christmaa felt homes should not be put on these short 1ots., that owners <br />would tend to use rear of lots running through to lo'barnso <br />? A suggestion vras made by Nlr. Scheeff to divide t,he four lots into three, making <br />g?ter sideyards, Nir. Biskind said he would be willing to do this if he were <br />unable to purchase the rear land neAded. I7r. Fields objected to the idea of <br />3 instead of 4 homes.
