CTTY OF NORTH OLMSTFD - BOAFD OF ZONING APPEA.LS <br />?, . <br />Regular hieeting held at City HaII --- January 3, 196$ <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Mr. kTilliam Greene9 Chairman. <br />Members Present: Mrs. Eian, Mssrs. Greeae' Byers, Roberts, Nelson <br />Also Present: Mr. Gundy, Building Commissioner <br />The minutes of the I2/6/67 meeting were approved as written. <br />l, Appellant: Yorkview Estates. Request for variance to erect a house at <br />3988 Shelley Drive -vrith an insufficient rear yaxd. <br />Request is in violation of Ordinance.#62-339 Section 1163.01 <br />which renuires a 501 rear yard. <br />Present: Robert Maclow representing Yorkview Fsta.tes <br />Mr. Madow exFlained that the rear of the 3oic in question is irregular in shape <br />and tha.t the lots on Canterbury Road at rear of said propertg are extrernely deep. <br />The closest build3ng to the lot line would be over 2001. The house to be built is <br />a more expensive home-that would be a credit to the neighborhood (approximately <br />$35,000). Mr, Alelson maved to grant a variance of 21.81 for 38.11 and .81 for <br />36.631.on rear Iot Iine. Mrs. Eian seconded the motion. Motion passed. <br />2. Appe].Iant: Joseph Yonkof. Reauest for varia.nce to erect a four-familg <br />apartment building at 27473 Mi1I Road with a43' rear yard. <br />Request is in violation of Ord3riance-7#62-33, Section I163.01 <br />whieh requires a 501 rear yarcl. <br />Present: Mr. Yonkof <br />A2r. Greene read a letter from.Safet;3-Service Director Del Limpert regarding the <br />pZacing.of...building on Io.t. Mr. Yonkof explained that in order to have attached <br />garages on.the building,.a variance of 71 ia necessary. Discussion folIowed on <br />how said_building should be situateci on the lot and it was decided that the pZan <br />as presented wwfa..s most satisfaetory. Mr. Roberts moved to grant a 71 rear yard <br />variance with.the stipulation tha.t appropriate landscaping be used to screen <br />parking and patio ar.eas and..-s11 possible exist3ng trees be left intact. Mr. <br />1Velson.sec;onded the motion. Motion passed. <br />3. Appellant: C1evela.nd Trust.Co., 23424 Lorain._.Road..- Reruest f°or variance to <br />erect a sign in excess of the permitted square foota.ge. <br />Request is in violation of Ordinance #62-33, Section 3225.02. <br />Present;. Francis Bardon representing Cleveland Trust Co.., Julius Karl representing <br />Brooks Electric Signs, Mr.. Kristoff, Mr. Ludwig <br />Air. Bardon pr.esented plans..for an 81 X 121 pole sign made of .plastic and featuring <br />inc7.irect lighting. It consists of white.letters on a blue-black background. Sign <br />is 46 square feet larger,than allowed. Mr. Kristaff questioned placement of sign, <br />what time it wnuld be turned off each.evening, etc. Mr. Ludwig' owner of the <br />restaurant on the opposite corner, stated that his sign was w3.thin the limits <br />allowed and tha.t he d3dn't fee2 an excessively large sign wa.s:.desirable: The <br />appellant was advised tha.t plans should be presented for ?. si?i?.T1er sign so that
