New Developments and Subdivisions - Mrm Davis armounced there are <br />nones He also anneunced the engineering fee f4r Scholtz cubdivi- <br />sion was not paid in time for the subdivision to be considered <br />this evening. Letter from Councilman Geisser was read regarding <br />roadway to Mastic Road and traffic survey. <br />VI< Communications <br />Letter from Betty Yehlik was read. The letter was recommendation <br />ro8ds be built iii Industrial Farko Mr. Davis referred to Citizen <br />Advisory Ccmmittee minutes of 3-8-73 approving same. There is <br />new raadway plan developed by Community Impxovement Corporationa <br />VII. Committee Reports <br />Mr. Ledvina is to be released from Sign Committee and is to serve <br />on Public Housing Committee <br />Mr. Tubbs is to represent Planning Commission at Zoning Board of <br />kppeals. <br />VIIi. New Business <br />Industrial Park layout was considered under Commknicationso It <br />is in Committee of Planning Commission as avholee <br />? IX. Regional Planning <br />Meeting was turned over to Mr. Svoboda who said he had two items <br />for this evening's meetingo The first is community facilities <br />relating to schools and his assistant Jim Kostelec made this re- <br />port. Report includes Comprehensive Map. Reference was made to <br />tables in report. Fxplanation vas made of tapering off of school <br />population, enrollment ratio, ultimate residential development, <br />school population per home, non public school enrollment, etc. <br />There ul.timately will be need for nine elementary public schools, <br />three junior high schoels and one senior high schoolo This re- <br />port mentior.s replacement of Coe School and two new junior high <br />schools. No new ser.icr high school is needed because the new vo- <br />cational educational high school will take some high school stu- <br />dents. The map shows school plan areas. In meetings with Dr. Van <br />Auken, Superintendent of Schools, ifi, was found he agrees with these <br />projections; also it is though the 2400 non-public school students <br />will disannear from non public schocls and all buildings taill be <br />needed as they come into public school.s. <br />Mr. Svoboda reviewed his recommendations of 78,000 population for <br />IVorth Olmsted in 1990. The residential mix is different r.ow. Low <br />density apartments are now being proposed, there wi11 be less school <br />population. There will be some-w1hat of a drop in family size. Popu- <br />? lation projection is somewhat loier than in 1968. There are 2 or 3 <br />schools of thought on maximum size for schools. Sites which are <br />present,ly available must be given consi.deration now.
