The following week can be used to <br />determine what additional supplies or decorations may be required. <br />Significant discussion was had on promotion of the event. Commission members agreed that <br />attendance and awareness were equally important. Ms. Suter and Ms. Kilbane will take photos at <br />the event for use on the website and future promotional materials. Ms. Strippy will coordinate <br />with Ms. Wenger to craft an email that can be sent to Community Council, the Chamber of <br />Commerce and other groups on the Commission's distribution list. Flyers will be available at the <br />President's Dinner at the Cabin on November 21; Mr. Schumann will ensure they are distributed. <br />Additional flyers will be provided to Ms. DePolo. Ms. McClain recommended approaching the <br />schools about sending information home with students or provide to parents during conferences. <br />City Hall Art Gallery <br />An application from Hilary Tymcio was reviewed by the Commission. She proposes a one- <br />month exhibition of her paintings. Ms. Tymcio was an exhibitor in the 2013 Olmsted Festival of <br />the Arts. <br />Ms. DePolo moved, seconded by Ms. Suter, to approve the exhibition of Hilary Tymcio for <br />January 2014 which passed 9-0. <br />Ms. DePolo said she had contacted the Cleveland Institute of Art and was in touch with Amy <br />Goldman. The Arts Commission will be able to post information about the art gallery on their <br />online site College Central, which should generate some student interest. <br />Summer in the Cit_y <br />2014 Music in the Park <br />Mr. Wahl and Ms. McClain contacted additional possible performers, Megan Zurkey and <br />Revolution Pie. It appears too early for most bands to book for summer of 2014; this can be <br />revisited in the first quarter of 2014. The Commission will seek sponsorship to cover the cost of <br />the bands, but additional budget will likely be necessary to make the event high quality. Mr. <br />Brake has a sound system that can be used by the bands; he will provide the specifications that <br />can be shared with the musicians. Ms. Suter presented the top two logos to the group which was <br />revised. The Commission almost unanimously approved the oval logo. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Commission members discussed planning for the future generally and the 2015 City Bicentennial <br />specifically. The Arts Commission will be the core of the planning group for the two hundred <br />year celebration but many volunteers and much coordination will be required. Ms. Wenger said <br />that she envisioned branding all city events in 2015 with a bicentennial logo, and perhaps <br />building on an existing event or organizing a new event that would be the feature of the year. <br />She would like to pursue fireworks. Mr. Wahl would like to investigate how banners could be <br />better used in the City. It was suggested that fundraising events could be held to generate <br />2
