Y
?- 9
The art work would be on display for a month and available to the public anytime city hall is
open. Ms. DePolo will have her painting class display their work in October for two months.
Music in the Park
Ms. Suter said the committee met and is proposing to organize music in North Olmsted Park a
few Sundays during the summer of 2014. Tentative dates chosen were June 22, July 20 and
August 17, 2014 from 4:00 to 6:00pm. The theme of the event will be Siuruner in the City and
geared towards families bringing picnics and listening to music. One band will be chosen for
each date and perhaps an ice cream vendor. The committee will meet after the October meeting
to discuss possible sponsors and developing a logo for the event. Ms. Strippy said she would
contact the Rec Center to confirm the dates chosen are available. Ms. Wenger and Mr. Brake will
identify possible sponsors. Ms. Suter will work on a logo or brand for the event. Mr. Brake will
contact a printer regarding costs for signage and advertising.
Homecoming Big Tent Event
Ms. Strippy reviewed the outcome of the Go Gaelic event and lessons for the future. A box will
be compiled of materials and supplies to address likely event needs in the future; it can be used
for multiple city events. More volunteers will be needed for clean up at the end of the night. Mr.
Brake suggested that the main entrance should be more defined as should the intended flow once
in the tent. Ms. Wenger suggested having individuals appointed to specific tasks and include
Council members so they have a presence.
NEW BUSINESS
2013 Holiday Tree Lighting
Ms. Strippy said the Holiday Tree Lighting has been set for Monday, December 2, 2013 at
Springvale Ballroom. Past years have included cookies, hot chocolate, and school choir and
music groups. The Olmsted Performing Arts will have a dance group perform this year and a
student will be chosen to light the trees. Ms. Wenger suggested having more trees and perhaps
having a much larger center tree and invite different community groups to decorate a tree. At the
event there could be an ornament station for participants to decorate ornaments for the
centerpiece tree. Mr. Brake said he would look into finding a large tree. Ms. Suter will
organize a station for ornament decorating. The commission will not have a holiday lighting
contest. Mr. Wahl said he would like to see the park decorated with lights.
ADJOURNMENT
With n r usiness t meeting adjourned at 8:15pm.
Bill Brake, Chai' 06nna Rote, Clerk of Commissio'ns--
. i

2
