S;
she doesn't want to expand the footprint much further or the only access point to the rear of the
home would be through the garage. Ms. Diver noted that the plan stated drainage would be
installed if required. Due to the size of the lot perhaps a different layouts should be explored.
Ms. Rudolph asked if the board could seek the City engineer's opinion and Mr. Gareau said the
board could request the matter be tabled or continued and invite the City Engineer to weigh in on
the matter.
Ms. Rudolph moved seconded by Ms. Bellido, to table CMS13-32: Rita & Sally Winson of
6666 Barton Road. The City Engineer is asked to be present to address existing and or
possible drainage issues, which passed 3-0.
CMS13-33: Ben Haserodt; 4944 Porter Road
Proposal consists of a garage. The following variances are requested:
1. A 210 sq ft variance for a detached garage larger then code allows; code permits 750 sq ft,
applicant shows 960 sq ft, Section 1135.02(c)(3).
2. A 1 ft variance for a detached garage higher then code permits; code permits 15 ft, applicant
shows 16 ft, Section 1135.02(c).
The oath was administered to Ben and Jodie Haserodt. Mr. Hserodt said the new garage will
replace the existing garage which burned down, however it will be slightly larger to
accommodate their garden tools and recreational vehicles. They will use the same foundation of
the former garage but expand it to fit the new dimensions. A hip roof will be used to
accommodate the recreational vehicle which creates the need for the height variance. Board
members said they felt the lot could accommodate the size of the garage and that it would not
adversely impact the character of the neighborhood.
Ms. Diver moved, seconded by Ms. Bellido, to grant CMS13-33: Ben Haserodt; 4944 Porter
Road the following variances:
1. A 210 sq ft variance for a detached garage larger then code allows; code permits 750 sq
ft, applicant shows 960 sq ft, Section 1135.02(c)(3).
2. A 1 ft variance for a detached garage higher then code permits; code permits 15 ft,
applicant shows 16 ft, Section 1135.02(c).
Motion passed 3-0.
COMMERCIAL APPEALS AND REQUESTS
CMS13-30: Water Tower Square; 27264 Lorain Road
Proposal consists of additional signage. The following variance is requested:
1. A variance for 1 additional wall sign on a unit; code permits 2, applicant shows 7, Section
1163.27(A).
Note: BZA granted a variance to allow a total of 6 wall signs on 7/7/11. The proposed sign is 38
sq ft and existing is 440 sq ft totaling 478 sq ft, which is within code.
The oath was administered to George Dragon of Cicogna Electric Signs, Natalie Shovlin of
MCG Architecture and neighbors Tom Herbster and Carol Novak. Mr. Dragon said Giant Eagle
is receiving a state liquor agency license and the sign is required by the Ohio Liquor Control
2
