.:. __ _ ., <br />I,AloTDMARKS COMIVIISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTEI) <br />MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 16, 2013 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Chairman Schumann called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in Council's Chambers. <br />Present: Paul Schumann, David Neville, Tom Dubowski, Albert Richner, Jim Morse, Dale <br />Thomas, Rosemary Walker <br />Absent: Maryellen Davis, Don Rerko <br />Staff: Clerk of Commissions Donna Rote <br />REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Mr. Neville moved, seconded by Mr. Dubowski, to approve the Landmarks Commission minutes <br />of August 12, 2013 which passed 7-0. <br />OLD BUSIleTESS <br />James Morse & I)aniel Hocevar; 30095 Lorain Road, PPN 234-14-016: <br />A request for a Certificate of Appropriateness for a restoration plan. Note: Continued from <br />6/10/13 & 8/12/13. <br />Mr. Morse said under the minor change approval the home will be painted, landscaping <br />addressed and the rear steps were started but not completed. The existing breakfast nook <br />windows will be replaced and the entire breakfast nook resided using cedar to ensure the <br />attachment appears original to the home. The porch is in poor condition and requires removing <br />the concrete from the planter wall which requires fixing. The building department has requested <br />the porch be brought into compliance with today's codes, which their architect is addressing. <br />The last item is the walkways, the trees along the front sidewalks are in somewhat poor condition <br />and the walkway which has been replaced a couple times will be replaced with crushed recycled <br />briclc gravel with metal edging. Mr. Schumann reviewed the breakfast noolc windows will be <br />replaced and new cedar siding installed. The garden wall will be fixed, and a crushed concrete <br />pad will be installed along the north front walkway. <br />Mr. DubowslcY moved to grant James Morse & Daniel Hocevar of 30095 Lorain Road as <br />discussed below: <br />• Windows in nook replaced with wood frame windows c& storm windows to match the other <br />windows in home. <br />• The nook will be resided with cedar wood. The walkway will include crushed brick and the <br />proposed cedar bridge. <br />• The front porch as proposed in detailed plan submitted. <br />Mr. Dubowski said after last month's discussion regarding repurposing the sandstone left at the <br />new fire station site he visited the fire station and could find no sandstone block anywhere on the <br />site. There were two pallets of sandstone on the fire house ground which is no longer there. <br />There was a drawing approved to build a pillar around the existing marker.
