The committee's mission is to
celebrate North Olmsted's history and heritage and recognize milestones and achievements of
the last 200 years. The committee will also create opportunities for sustained collaboration and
partnership between city, schools and community organizations.
Publicitv & Outreach
Committee members identified other organizations that could be approached to partner such as
Kiwanis, Scouts, the Lions Club, various churches including the Unitarian Universalist church,
PTAs, the North Olmsted Branch Library, and the Chamber of Commerce. Community Council
volunteered its membership email list to publicize the effort.
Next, the committee brainstormed ideas for theme, logo, tagline or brand that could be used on
city and other organization websites, literature and publicity materials. The ongoing master plan
process will be able to feed community outreach information to the bicentennial group. In
addition to outreach, this subcommittee will have responsibility for content for the North
Olmsted Magazine and developing fundraising and sponsorship efforts.
See attached list of ideas for Publicity and Outreach.
Special Events
The committee created a list of existing community events that can be branded "bicentennial"
such as Homecoming, events at Frostville and city holiday celebrations. Kim suggested that the
bicentennial brand be used by community groups only for events that are open to the general
public. The committee then brainstormed a list of ideas for new feature events and activities that
would be developed specifically to celebrate 2015.
See attached list of ideas for Events.
