Ms. Wenger questioned the status of displaying historical items at Great Northern Mall from the
historical society. Mr. Neville said there have been discussions at OHS but no action taken.
They will need to form a committee to choose items to be displayed and research the size of the
showcases. Ms. Wenger said she get pictures of the display cases for OHS and perhaps there
could be different displays lasting a few months at a time. Once a theme and items are chosen a
proposal could be submitted to the mall. Mr. Neville said he would facilitate the review and
gathering of artifacts from Frostville and perhaps the commission could have a committee to put
the displays together. Mr. Neville said he would send invitations out to Ms. Wenger, Mr.
Schumann, Mr. Morse and anyone else who would be interested to go through the buildings to
put things together for the displays. Mr. Neville said prior to the plaque ceremony for the Seltzer
home a display case of items which belonged to Mr. Seltzer could be on display to draw interest.
Ms. Schuler said at the end of July there will be a bicentennial picnic sponsored by Kiwanis and
Community Council and they would like to have a historic nature to it and perhaps a display
from OHS if at all possible. Mr. Neville said he would add Ms. Schuler to the list to tour
Frostville for display items.
Mr. Neville said the OHS SITES student is active in the High School Theater and said she would
worlc with .him to set up a meeting with the theater group regarding the students doing skits on
the historical tour. His thought is for the students to do a 3 or 4 minute slcit on the bus with a new
actor getting on the bus at each stop. Ms. Wenger said she would send Mr. Neville the budget for
the historical tour.
Ms. Wenger said there will be two dining to donate events; the first at Chick Fil-A and second at
Bob Evans, a percentage of proceeds will go to suppor-t the bicentennial programs.
Ms. Wenger said the superintendent indicated at an Education Foundation meeting that it is the
schools intent to demolish the iniddle school this year sometime after homecoming in the fall.
There was no mention of the Caster/Thomas house but she will communicate with the
superintendent so he understands the demo will require a certificate of appropriateness. She said
that the commission would not have a detailed plan as to what will be constructed once the
building is down, as the design company and architect were just hired. Mr. Limpert asked if the
school would be selling any of the briclcs from the original middle school and Ms. Schuler said
the topic was briefly discussed at the ineeting.
ADJOIJRNIVIEIVT
With no further business, Mr. Rerko's absence was excused and meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
L./?
David Neville, Chair /?onna Rote, C?lerk, of ommissi
f
Date: -,2,11 121 0s'
