Mr. Schumann questioned what the intent of the Lorain Road parcel was. Reverend Bodnarchuk
said both parcels will remain as they are. However it provides the church more flexibility in the
future. Mr. Witt said he abuts the property and is present to support the churches request.
Mr. Malone moved, seconded by Mr. Schumann, to grant 15-4035 Holy Resurrection
Orthodox Church of 30450 Lorain Road, their lot split and consolidation which consists of:
a section of PPN 233-08-012 being split and consolidated with parcel identified as PPN 233-
08-004 to form a single parcel consisting of approximately 1.2998 acres, the parcel is split
zoned S One Family Residential and General Retail Business. The remaining section of PPN
233-08-012 will be consolidated with parcels identified as PPNs 233-08-008 and 233-08-O1 lto
form a single parcel consisting of approximately 2.2294 acres, zoned General Retail
Business, motion passed 7-0.
COMMUNICATION
2015 Master Plan
Ms. Wenger said her goal for the first discussion is to prioritize action items from the 2015
Master Plan. The items are designated as immediate, ongoing, short term and long term. The
Commission will have responsibility in implementation for many of them. Key actions are
summarized below.
The 2006 Design Guidelines and Streetscape Plan has not been adopted although a lot of work
went into the draft and is referred to at times it needs updating. Staff is working on the
commercial zoning update and once it's completed perhaps some of the design guideline
elements could be incorporated into the code. Mr. Malone said perhaps the commission should
look at the guidelines at the same time the zoning codes are being updated. Ms. Wenger said she
would provide the document to the zoning consultants so they can look at them as well.
A real estate advisory council is suggested to convene to understand what they are hearing from
clients whether it commercial or residential. It would also be an opportunity for the city to
convey positive information about projects taking place and those coming up. Mr. Schumann
said the realtor's advisory council is an informative group that advises people of what is taking
place in the market and areas to encourage sales. If the city could put a master email list which
included realtor's updates could be sent out as to what is taking place monthly. Mr. O'Malley
said Carole Heyward would be a good person to have a good method in reaching out to the
realtors. Ms. Wenger reviewed possibly having an informative realtor's breakfast yearly to keep
them abreast of what is going on in the city
The plan recommends having regular meetings with the Cleveland Metroparks. Ms. Wenger has
been in touch with the parks regarding a Barton Bradley trailhead. The Metroparks have been
discussing the idea and evaluating whether or not a natural trail and/or boardwalk could be
created and if the city could assist with funding the project. However the area is wetlands which
touch upon environmental concerns. The commissioners felt inviting staff of the Metro Parks to
a meeting would help bolster the discussion to have the trails. Mr. Malone said he would like the
bike path studied to address maintenance issues and expanding and improving the paths.
4
