interest in an event at Frostville. Lauren stated that there is already an event planned in October
involving the Farmers' Market and Kiwanis, so for the Arts Commission to duplicate that would
be redundant. Jackie reminded the group that she has tentatively blocked off Sunday Sept. 25t1i
for an Arts Commission event at the Senior Center, as well as the weekend of October 21St_23ra
Given this information, the conversation shifted to a possible blending of the Focus North
Olmsted gallery reception with a large community event at the Senior Center/Community Park
involving food trucks, crafts and NOBO entertainment. Jeff inentioned that while October is
typically extremely busy for NOBO given the football season, this year may be difficult to
schedule since the team will not be playing at home. Laura and Jackie suggested that if it
plausible, a performance at the Sept. 25ffi event could serve as "home game" type of performance
in the Park. JoAnn stated that she did not have an issue with combining the reception with a
larger community event, as long as the artists were able to be recognized for their submitted
work and the exhibit dates were edited on the application. Lauren suggested that the reception be
held shortly before the start of the larger community event and that the artwork remain on
display throughout the remainder of the event. Jackie expressed concern over set-up given the
tight timeframe, but expressed optimism based on the conversation. The Commission
unanimously agreed to pursue the September 25th date for an event at the Senior Center and
relinquish the October dates. Based on this decision, James agreed to organize a smaller
committee to further develop this event in the coming weeks prior to the July meeting.
Partnership Discussion
James introduced Henry Foraker and Joe with Northeast Ohio Cosplay, a local costume
performance group attending the upcoming Summer in the City concert on June 19 and seeking
to grow their presence in North Olmsted and beyond as the premier costume performance
organization. Henry and Joe explained the origins of their business endeavor, their background
as performing artists in and around North Olmsted, and their intent to grow their business
through increased exposure and smart management. In addition to providing 5 characters at the
STTC event at no cost and assuring against copyright or trademark infringements on City
property, Henry and Joe asked the Commission for permission to sell bottled water to fundraise
for their organization during the event. Jackie moved, seconded by Annie, to allow Northeast
Ohio Cosplay to sell bottled water at their tent during the SITC concert on Sunday June 19th . The
motioned passed unanimously.
ADJOUItNMENT
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:43 p.m.
Bill Brake
Chair
James 7
Planner
Approved: !
