The property is zoned One Family Residence A.
The following variance is requested:
1. A 3 ft. variance for minimum rear yard setback; code requires 50 ft., applicant shows 47 ft.,
Section 1135.08.
Mr. Aspery stated that the applicant is requesting a variance of 3 feet to allow for the addition of
a 20 ft. x 13 ft. one-story addition to the rear of their existing home, allowing for an additional
bedroom. The current rear yard setback is 67 feet, where the addition would reduce this number
to 47 feet. Code requires a rear yard setback of no less than 50 feet.lVlr. Snahnican stated that his
home is a three bedroom split-level house without a basement. One of his children has
disabilities that require her to have her own room and the other children have a large age gap
making it impractical to share a room. He stated that the maj ority of the addition would provide
more storage for the family. The bedroom area would be about 12 ft. x12 ft. He stated that the
total size of the addition was chosen to compromise between the need for storage and make it
close to code compliance, while staying within his budget. Mr. Snahnican stated that the addition
could not be wider due to windows in the dining room. Mr. Papotto did not believe the request
was huge and appreciated the space that was left over.
