?
?
James provided general updates on the event, commending each subcommittee members'
contributions towards event entertainment, vendors, supplies and programming. A subcommittee
meeting is scheduled for March 22, 1:OOPIVI at the Rec Center to go over more event planning
details and updates.
Go North Olmsted Day - TBD
Kim and James outlined last year's event and reiterated the concept behind the annual
community-improvement event. Kim asked for ideas on what to do with the empty outbuilding at
the Ox Cart Pantry, as that could be a potential project. The group settled on using the space for a
community book exchange to be open during warm weather, with the potential for a mural
painting and additional programming to supplement this use. Laura suggested looking at the
Little Free Library organization for inspiration in creating a"book barn" in the space. It was
established that this project will have to be completed separate from GO North Olmsted Day, but
has the full support of the Commission to be developed and ultimately implemented.
Bike Week Event - TBD
The group held a discussion surrounding the upcoming National Bike Week planned for May 15-
19. Ideas included: bringing back bike-decorating at the Park, Frostville, Fatheads, soccer games
or within specific subdivisions. It was ultimately decided that Sue will contact Eddy's Bike Shop
to see if the Commission can support any currently-planned events during that time. The other
brainstormed ideas will be considered for next year, due to limited event planning capabilities at
this point in time.
Summer in the City - June 18, July 16, August 20
Laura updated the group on Suminer in the City progress. Bands have been booked for June and
July: Colin Dussault and Billy Morris and the Sunset Strip. James is booking food trucks. Laura
asked the Commission's opinion on the potential August band's performance amount. After
more clarification from Laura regarding the options, the decision was made to offer the band a
rate that is commensurate with their unique composition and abilities as opposed to basing their
amount on the other two bands. Any cost differential will be used to promote the August concert
to a larger audience. It was agreed that July concert programming will be a free tie-dye station
open from intermission through the end of the concert.
DISCUSSION
Great Northern Mall Coordination '
James asked the Commission if there was interest in helping the Mall organize a community
group "meet and greet" event this Spring, in conjunction with Angie Obbish from the Frostville
Farmers' Market. It was decided that the Commission should focus on producing events that are
independently organized and advertised fairly, neither of which were the case in the previous
"Valentines for Vets" activity in February.
Tea and Trumpets
Kim and Stephanie shared that the North Olmsted City Schools Education Foundation has
produced a few members interested in assisting the Commission in developing the event concept
for this Fall.
ADJOURNMENT
With no further business the meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
