Kim then led the group in an
idea mural activity to collect ideas for programming, events, and activities for the year. She
explained that in addition to the large events the Commission has regularly organized, it is
important to identify smaller activities that could further enrich arts and culture programming•in
the city. Ideas included, but were
not limited to, holding a storyteller night at the library, hosting a Tea and Trumpets event
featuring NOCS music and light refreshments, various gardening projects, and organizing a
Valentines for Vets coloring contest at the February 0' Frostville Farmers' Market from lOAM -
2:OOPM. The event
was well-attended, the sled dogs were popular, Santa and Mrs. Claus were very professional and
great with the kids, games and crafts were a huge hit, the bonfire received more traffic than in
previous years, and the food vendors did very well. Concerns and suggestions included
community groups need better outreach prior to the event and more instruction at the event, the
light installation did not offer a worthwhile return on investment, food vendors could be placed
differently, the reindeer must have antlers next year, the carolers were once again late and
therefore will not be invited next year, Santa may require two hours to allow more time for
everyone to see him, and the Mayor needs advance notice. .
