r
Mr. Raig asked about the traffic flow, Mr. Paul said the patrons could park in the spots facing
either direction, depending on which direction they come from. Mr. Bougebrayel said there have
been no issues with accidents on the property. Discussion regarding the parking space
calculations. Mr. Raig asked if the spots would be marked or have physical barriers, Mr. Paul
said there will be no physical barrier between the paxking spots and Lorain Road. He added that a
barrier would be installed to prevent cars from driving into the neighboring parking lot since the
grade is different. Mr. Allain asked why the applicant did not apply to have the requirement for
additional spaces waived, Mr. Paul had not thought of that. Mr. Allain was concerned about the
parking spaces not being utilized properly and blocking traffic on Lorain Road. Mr. Bougebrayel
said the two new spaces would be used for employee parking.
Mr. Mackey believed the applicant tried to negotiate with their neighbors but were unsuccessful.
Mr. Papotto was not in favor of the parking as proposed but he appreciated the owner's
investment in the business. He thought the parlcing may function differently than shown. Mr.
Raig thought the business was not very busy and did not see an issue with employees parking in
the spots. He did not see an issue with the 10 foot setback since the neighboring property has a
parlcing lot extending to the property line. Mr. Allain believed patrons would park in the spots
matter what since is it paved.
Mr. Allain moved, seconded by Mr. Papotto, to approve the follovaing variance for 18-
12150; Sunoco; 28925 Lorain Road:
1. A 10 ft. variance for parking setback; code does not permit parking in a required
setback, applicant shows parking 0 ft. from the east side property line; Sections
1139.04(D) and 1161.04(A).
Motion passed 4-0.
ADJOURNMENT
Mr. Allain moved, seconded by Mr. Papotto, to excuse the absence of Mr. Rahm, motion
passed 4-0.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
.
I ^
Mike Raig, Chair Nicole ambo-Ackerman, Administrative
Assistant
Approved: l?
