Historic District Map
Mr. Neville stated that there is confusion about which map correctly shows the historic district.
He believed that the written description which stated that 300 feet from the center of Butternut
Ridge Road is the best description and he did not want to zigzag around the houses based on
their age. Since he has been on the commission, they have reviewed projects for newer homes
and recommended the homes be remodeled consistent with the style of the home in addition to
the older homes. Mr. Schumann asked that the commission form a committee to create a map to
take to City Council for adoption. Mr. O'Malley said Ms. Lieber suggested including entire
parcels in the district to avoid portions of parcels not being included in the district which could
be confusing in the future. He pointed out that the memo from himself to Mr. Dubelko in 2003
was in response to Halleen Kia's proposal to demolish the old post office. He thought that some
of the changes to the district may warrant changes to the map. The code does not explain how to
amend or revise the district. Mr. Morse asked about how the district is reported to the state,
address, parcel or coordinates. He also asked if some of the properties that have changed belong
in the district. Mr. Schumann did not think the district was regulated by the state because it is a
locally recognized district. The CLG status is for the city, not the district. Mr. O'Malley believed
that the map could be changed based on the 2012 OHI forms without going back to the raw data.
Discussion about the Halleen Kia proposal from 2003, which has not been built. Mr. Dubelko
thought the three corners at the intersection of Lorain, Butternut Ridge and Porter Roads were
the original town center which has been removed over time. Discussion about the Town Center
area mentioned in the Master Plan. Mr. Schumann, Mr. Neville, Mr. Dubowski volunteered to be
on the committee to determine the correct historic district map.
Mr. Morse moved, seconded by Ms. Cardarelli, to create a committee to review the district
map, motion passed 9-0.
Records Retention
Mr. Neville asked someone to take Mr. Limpert's place on the records committee, Mr. Kearney
volunteered.
ADJOURNMENT
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:43 p.m.
?
, .
/
.. -
David Neville, Chair icole a bo-Ackerman, Administrative
Assistant
Date:
