PLAle1NING & DESIGN COMMISSION <br />CITY OF NORTH OI.MSTED <br />MINUTES OF MARCH 28, 2018 <br />ROLL CALL <br />Ms. Nader called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm in Council Chambers and led the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />Present: Julie Nader, Dave Anderson, Darrick Matthews, Tom Patton, Paul Schumann, Don <br />Rerko <br />Absent: Greg Malone <br />Staff: Assistant Law Director Bryan O'Malley, Planner James Aspery, City Engineer Pietro <br />DiFranco <br />REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINUTES <br />Ms. Nader asked that the wording in the Suleiman case be changed to "assigned to the location <br />or the owner" and that "Ms. Suleiman indicated that the state license would be specific to this <br />facility" be added to the minutes. <br />Mr. Schumann moved, seconded by Mr. Anderson, to approve the Planning and Design <br />Commission minutes of February 14, 2018 as amended, motion passed 5-0, Mr. Rerko <br />abstained. <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />Gateways Plan <br />Mr. Aspery stated that the comments from the February 14th meeting were incorporated into the <br />final Gateways Plan. This plan is very conceptual but creates an important framework for <br />beautifying North Olmsted through vibrant, brand-centric gateway enhancements across the city. <br />The changes from the previous version can be found in the updated bubbles providing ideas and <br />suggestions for how these projects could be accomplished, important project considerations and <br />general updates offering more clarity on what is being done or has been done at specified <br />locations. In terms of implementation, this plan is designed to be conducted in phases over the <br />long term. The Planning Department is still in the early stages of planning an ivy planting project <br />at the Stearns Road sound wall in conjunction with the North Olmsted Garden Club tentatively <br />planned for mid-July. A bike path beautification project is being coordinated in early June with <br />the Arts Commission. This project will involve cleaning the path and potentially sprucing up <br />some of the industrial waste cans found near the high-traffic trail entrances. Mr. Rerko and Ms. <br />Nader were excited about the plan. <br />Ms. Nader moved, seconded by Mr. Rerko, to approve the Gateways Plan, motion passed <br />6-0. <br />Master Plan Annual Renort <br />Mr. Aspery stated that the topics covered in the Master Plan Annual Report include the
